A friend of mine recently died in Thailand and his Thai wife duly informed the police who then informed the New Zealand Embassy. He had only just sorted out his Oz pension when his health took a turn and he passed away.
Now the NZ Super mob and the Oz Centre Link have both sent her letters saying as he no longer resided in Oz he had been overpaid and they want it back. It's just over $3000 each. His wife doesn't think there was a will and there was only a few hundred left in his Oz bank account.
Other than them sending threatening letters what action if any, can the money grubbers take to get their money back?

None. She may receive threatening letters/phone calls from a debt collector, tell her to ignore them.

Thanks for the quick reply Banjo. That was what I was hoping to hear.
Great site you run here, I fear I'll be using it a lot when I have to run the pension gauntlent.
Thanks a lot

No worries, one of our members overstayed this year and owed them a couple of hundred for something. After they cut him off he got a phone call from a woman from a private debt collection agency demanding all the details from his bank accounts.... He's still laughing.
Get back to me if it gets nasty, I may know someone.
