I got my DSP overseas newsletter today via email and it mentions change of government and indicates review of ppl on DSP similiar too what has occurred in the UK and here in the forums I read similiar things and comments that apparently Abott makes claims like mental illness is not permanent....In summary were is all this hype coming from because I have not read anything like it or about same in the news, if it's scare mongering rumour mill stuff, what are the facts...otherwise stop making such claims and stressing ppl out who are long term DSP recipients with some type of indication that there income support might be lost...I have been on DSP since 2003......Any comments???

Yes its been a disaster for the disabled what happened in the UK, l think almost half kicked off their pension If large numbers of us write to the politcans it might help deter them from doing something like that l guess the politicans see us as an easy target , making the miners and banks pay their fair share of tax to balance the budget is too hard. they fight back with lawyers and media campaigns rosecrystal.blog.co.uk/2013/01/07/disabled-live-in-fear-of-benefit-crackdown-15405416/www.mirror.co.uk/money/personal-finance/32-disability-benefit-claimants-die-1197304

It might be an appropriate time to remember that this forum started more than 3 years ago after a single news item quoting then Fahscia minister Jenny Macklin suggesting that something should be done about DSP recipients spending so much time overseas.
In a short time we found people losing the DSP without any suggestion of a reassessment, purely on concocted residency grounds.
I remember it quite clearly because I was among the first to be penalised, but because we had had time to discuss it we had the knowledge to contest Centrelink in the appeals system.

Yes Sarah Macklin , the politician who said she could easily live on $250 per week newstart when she earns $6,000 per week.
