Im not sure if this has been posted before on here but its very important to any of our members that are staying in Thailand. Sheryl the moderator from the health section on thaivisa phoned me the other day and informed me about this, as she is a close friend of mine she knows the health problems I have had this year, so I will share it with our members on here. Well as with most things in Thailand nothing ever goes the way we want it. I took a Thai with me to translate at the Hospital, all I got was a blank look of "No Have" What I have been told is that many of the hospitals know nothing about it, never heard of it. I think this is the case where I live because not too many foreigners are living here. What I suggest is to print The Thai Government Decree and take it to the hospital with you, its 10 pages long and you can get it here: 203.157.12.21/cmshigthai/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/fwf2800.pdf

Hey Banker, Was it your local hospital you went to this year ? Because if not, it may be a good idea to go there for some small health problem and establish your health history file in their records. At least the important things they need to know if you have to go there at short notice. I'd hate to see you in the middle of a health emergency yelling at them "NOT penicillin", or "NO....that part of my bottom is very sensitive"

I successfully qualified for this today.
The cost was about $75 for the first year plus $20 for the tests I had to undergo. These were blood and urine analysis and a chest X Ray and a reasonably thorough exam by a doctor.
You need to have proof of residency, preferably a tabien baan, what some call the yellow book but I have heard a lease agreement will do in some cases.
Anyone interested in doing this should contact me and I'll give them the full details, there are a few dos and don'ts.

The medical system in Thailand has had a very good reputation for a number of years so I 'envy' you Banjo that you can access it at such a reasonable price level.

Latest news is that they may be unable to process applications due to the unrest in Bangkok.

Latest news is that they may be unable to process applications due to the unrest in Bangkok. I thought it might have been too many people applying. Due to scheme being started for immigrant workers
