If anyone is thinking about getting travel vaccinations, here are some cost comparisons. I went to the Thai Travel Clinic at Mahidol Hospital [near Victory Monument] about 18 months ago. It's part of the tropical diseases department. www.thaitravelclinic.com/Another option is the Red Cross at Lumpini. Here is a link to their vaccine price list. www.thaitravelclinic.com/cost.htmlPrices have gone up a touch since 2012. Seeing as I am always being chased by dogs, I got the 3 rabies pre exposure. Each shot was 350bht [2012 exch was $11au] Private Thai hospital's and clinic's quoted around 630bht each shot Australian travel clinic's price $105 each shot. Typhoid - Thyphim Vi One shot at 490bht [$15au] Australian prices were from $55 to $62 Japenese Enceph SA-14-14-2 450bht [$14] Australian price was very high. Note that this vaccine comes in different forms I think. Each time you visit the hospital there is a 100bht doctor fee, a 70bht hospital fee, and 20bht for each time the nurse sticks a needle in your arm. Doctors and nurse all spoke good english, and the nurse was studying for a Masters in tropical deseases, I think she said. Just my memory not clicking in. Quite enjoyed each visit. 1960

A friend was bitten by her dog who, believe it or not, was sick from a reaction to it's rabies vaccine shots, (Banjo suggested she leave it alone to recover, but no, what does he know?) and decided to go with the shots herself even though it's vaccine record was up to date. She's had 4 injections but has to have another next year. All covered by the Thai 30 baht scheme which is what they pay for each hospital visit.
