Our first application took about 1 month to process, I did it all online. Thanks for the advice. Indonesians are unable to lodge online, so I think it would be very difficult to lodge extra information now. Indonesia is regarded as one of the countries at greatest risk of overstayers.I would have to check, but I'm fairly sure that once you have lodged with VFS in Bali, and it has been sent to Jakarta, that is final unless Jakarta asks for extra paperwork. The lease and list of relatives I did not do, but I did have a lot of other stuff. (I don't want to say too much that could identify me.) So I think it's just a matter of waiting and hoping for the best. (how much money did you have in the bank to show you could support your fiancée? I only found out about the process for getting around having your pension cut for marriage on this forum. Centrelink don't make that known at all. I knew someone 20 years ago that got divorced in order to get his pension restored to it's previous value.

One thing I really hate about all this, is wishing my life away for the next three years until I am on the aged pension. And who knows what these bastards are going to do with that. I foresee just before the next election, another 'terrorist' incident. (ASIO agent provocateurs?).

Mate, you're preaching to the choir.
I had about 5 years waiting for the age pension for full portability.

However it can also be made up another way, if you have a close relative who would be willing to write a letter of invitation also and supply some of there financial documents they will accept this. Best of luck.

Just got an update from my legal rep, here's another kick in the guts for the pensioners trying to get our partners to live here in Australia with us, It seems they don't want us to be able to travel as well as make the visa fees so high we cant afford to bring them here. Omg this government Is determined to make every pensioners life as miserable as possible, im so sick of this.
The Australian Government has today announced that there will be a 50% increase in Partner Visa fees effective 1 January 2015. The fee increase will affect the following visa sub-classes:
Provisional and Permanent Partner Visas - currently $3085 increased to $4627.50 Prospective Marriage Visa - currently $3085 increased to $4627.50 Temporary and Permanent Partner Visas - currently $4575 increased to $6865.50

Maybe the government would like us all to just drop dead, its not enough to suffer social isolation by being forced to stay put in this country, they just don't want us to have any resemblance of a happy life by being able to have a wife from overseas. So basically if your on DSP just sit and vegetate in your own home or rented home and be quiet while we erode your rights as a human.

I hope to god you are wrong about that. I didn't have 10k, nor would I be able to get it. Friends and relatives have obtained visas for wives and family with $5000.00. Now you have me all worried again.

I have spent many hours poring over the immi.gov site and others. I have also taken into account the experiences of family members and friends who have successfully applied for the same visa from Indonesia (Visitor visa, tourist stream - form 1419). I submitted what I felt was a comprehensive application that gave the best chance of success. This is why I was so surprised by the $10,000 statement. Having said that, I wish I had known about the australianvisaforum before we applied. I would certainly have put in evidence of family ties here.

To the OP this is what I done 2 years ago. Clearly you have been together in the Philippines. You come back here to OZ, then get her here on a tourist visa. Get married here, then apply for the partner visa. Now plenty of storms hit the PH all the time . You then apply for change of circumstances, no home to go back to [this was true for me] It should be granted in 10 months, do the medical etc. Yes the price has gone up, but it seems the best way to be together all the time. Apply to CL about hardship and you keep your pension as she can't work. But you can still put her in the system ready. Then you can go get her a medicare card. It starts building her life here. Then after 2 years she can get a CL payment too. In the mean time you can work on U/P. But don't leave the country with her or she may not get back in, until partner visa granted. Then move around as you like. By the way on this path we didn't have to prove money and there was no interview. Hope that helps.
