Reply from the office of Christine Milne, Leader of The Greens, to my email. Dear [myname] Thank you for your e-mail. The Greens MP s do not support the Government proposal to limit the portability of Disability Support Pensions. This measure is incorporated in the Social Services and Other Legislation Amendment 2014 Budget Measures No. 2 Bill which is still before the Senate and currently the subject of a Senate Committee Inquiry. The Media release below gives further information regarding this and you can find information about the Inquiry at www.aph.gov.au/Parliamentary_Business/Committees/Senate/Community_Affairs/Social_Services_2014_Budget_Measures. thx for following it up, but it won't make any difference as the greens even with PUP would not be enough to vote it down as labor stick with the libshits. which I think would make the majority.

Maybe we need to look at the Greens a bit more seriously.
Unfortunately they come across... probably deliberately portrayed as such by Murdoch... as tree hugging lefties and a lot of our older members may struggle to find it in their heart to support them on a single issue.
I'll nose around and see what they have about their across the board policies online.

Banjo, I had a bit to do with the Greens in Tasmania, in a former lifetime, and whilst I do not support a lot of their platform you certainly cannot fault them for their enthusiasm and dedication for a cause. They have been the most consistent, from what I have seen and read, in supporting disadvantaged people and given there response to leijona I see no problem in supporting them while they support us.

I'll think about contacting them, there's money in the forum fund that we could pay the first year's membership for half a dozen members, or subsidise the fees of even more.
I'm on their mailing list and every second sentence in every email is "send money" and their website is not much different. I suppose all the parties are the same but maybe we could get a group concession. I certainly think they have a lot more legitimacy than Palmer.

I commend them for their economic policies and support of disadvantaged....but I still wouldn't vote for them, as many in my family have been farmers, sporting shooters and firearm collectors - The greens are responsible in part for the way shooters are treated thesedays, and it isn't fair.

How are the greens responsible in part and how are shooters treated these days ??

Just my two bob's worth, but I think they supported Howard on gun reform after Port Arthur.
What isn't fair.....I don't know. Farmers, Sporting Shooters & Collectors are all given a fair shake I reckon. And if you want to run the gauntlet everything and more is back out there on the black market at reasonable prices. Myself and my family are from the same mould. So yeah, "What isn't fair?"
Cheers bear.
