Hi Everyone,
I've just got a letter in the mail from Jenny Macklin MP - Confirming that the ALP will NOT oppose the changes to portability of the DSP. I suggest everyone write to her and express their disgust...
- Leijona.

Bad news, but not really surprising.

They are the ones who live in their own fantasies, dream all this crap up, believe it and expect you to roll over. Cheers bear

Hi Everyone, I've just got a letter in the mail from Jenny Macklin MP - Confirming that the ALP will NOT oppose the changes to portability of the DSP. I have been chasing that bunch of rubbish for quite some time, I pointed out to them the discrepancies in the legislation, - - and there is a lot! How stupid, illogical it is, and not just about the 4 weeks DSP, but legislations for carers, and surprisingly they all agree on that. But basically what they say, that even though it's completely stupid, unjust, illogical and unfair - actually c. moore has admitted that!, and one legislation is not even in line with the other, who cares. the two girls I talked to from macklins office promised me to get back to me on that, also waiting to hear from sen claire moore, but guess what, no call, no email, nothing. I could chase them up again, but I am soooo fed up, and really busy with other stuff now and don't want to waste my time with utter idiots. What the legislation is in line with is with those big companies ripping you off all the time and would they care about it, of course not,why would they. They free to do whatever they want! like the superannuation firms! Just withdraw some money from our super, and got a charge of $65 withdrawal fee! it's just the last straw as they steeling $$$$ every year.

Sorry, I know this has been discussed before but I can't find the relevant thread. If you leave before the end of the year, is it the case that you get your 6 weeks? what if you go overseas for 2 weeks this year, does that mean you get 2 or 4 weeks next year?
Also, if someone buys you a plane ticket do you need to declare that to centrelink? does your payment get reduced?

You can go for six weeks if you leave before the end of this year. What ever you take you can still go for 4 weeks next year.
I doubt Centrelink would worry too much about a gift of an airline ticket, I wouldn't even mention it.

What I want to know is....If one were to leave before the end of the year can they overstay the 6 weeks and only get suspended like the old rules dictate? Nobody from centrelink can answer this
