It seems a lot of the "savings" will come from keeping people off the DSP. Tonight's news.
THE childcare rebate payment covering 50 per cent of out of pocket fees will be capped and people trying to get onto the disability support pension will be first forced onto the less lucrative dole under a crackdown.
The disability support pension changes will save the commonwealth $383.4 million over four years.
Under the new rules, from July 1 2012, people claiming the DSP without "sufficient evidence of a future work capacity of less than 15 hours per week may be referred to an alternative income support payment and offered employment assistance through Job Services Australia or Disability Employment Services."
The new rules mean that people will have to prove that they have turned up to a job agency and at least tried to get assistance to find a job. If they have not tried they will be put on the dole until it is proved that they have tried but their disability makes it impossible for them to work.
Bad news for some, not sure it's relevant to any of us though.

Is it my imagination or is that bitch calling the DSP lucrative? Typical Murdoch press "all non millionaires are scum" story.
