Ahhh... Cebu Pacific.
Do the hosties still entertain passengers inflight with little quizzes and party tricks?
They were the first to fly me into the old Clarke Airbase, had to be one of the largest airports around Asia and at that stage had about 2 flights a day.

I think the Cebu Pacific hosties are the best I have ever come across. At 2013 they were still doing in flight quizzes and party tricks. And they look after folk. I think Clarke may be a bit busier now.

Cebu Pacific still do pop quizzes about their destinations - super value flying at the moment from Sydney to Manila. As for Clark airport, it is extensive and was one of the few places that was cleared for the Space Shuttle to land ....

Damn! I wish I had known about Cebu Pacific last year. Since DeathStar stopped flying direct from Darwin I've been looking for an affordable direct flight from Australia to Manila. Cebu Pacific even without promotional offers have excellent fares, even with checked bags and meals factored in. And it is not much longer or dearer to fly from my part of Queensland to Sydney instead of Brisbane. And it also looks like a direct flight Sydney to Manila with no Darwin stopover either.

I booked a flight from Sydney to Manila about 2 months ago for $99 plus an extra $30 for 20kg checked in baggage so a total of $129 then a flight from Manila to Cebu a few hours later for less then $10

Neat, Thanks banjo. I'd played with skyscanner but never bothered looking further. My problem with flights form this part of Queensland is making conneting flights for the flight out of Aus. I'm not well enough to sleep 10 hours on an airport floor any more. And the security guards last time frowned on my asking them to wake me half an our before my next day flight ;-(

There's a guy further north than you who is pretty well restricted to Cathay Pacific, Cairns/Hong Kong/Bangkok... in your case you would need to take Hong Kong/Manila. Needless to say it's not cheap and I seem to recall that he suffers through a number of hours at Hong Kong Airport.
Last time I had to stay over night in an airport was Singapore where I bit the bullet and used the airport hotel which is about $10 an hour/6 hours minimum stay. Bangkok is easier, there are a number of small hotels near the airport with free pick up for about $25 a night.

Maybe I should just hire some female crew and sail one of my yachts over to Batangas.. If I get a few more things sorted I will try for portability though. I just need to establish what happens to someone who was put on DSP 'because it was cheaper for an insurance company than paying a full settlement'.

All that matters is points on a table ding, I've told you that you should have few problems.
Centrelink really shafts guys like you, and there's others here, because they know that some of the problems that cause your disability are what stop you from applying for UP and they offer no extra assistance at all.

Thanks Banjo. I suppose I just worry because I look 'fine'. Unlike many of us. And I have developed strategies to cope with the pain. And having had a previous fight with centrelink I'm loathe to push my luck again. We won, but it took a lot out of me.
In the mean time as long as they don't slam the lid on OAP portability I'll get a little bit more preparation done for my retirement plans. As I've mentioned elsewhere on the forum. The money I didn;t spend on airfares bought me a nice little bamboo house over there.

And don't forget that there are many of us that 'look' fine and we are not. And I wouldn't worry about OAP portability being restricted or stopped any time soon.
