My DSP got cancelled because I haven't reported my income for a month. I recently started working full time and have been reporting until they suspended my payment for two years. I thought that I did not have to report once my payment has been suspended. I have been having a hard time at work with no energy left after work so I thought I didn't have to report my earnings once my payment was suspended and now they have cancelled my payment. What should I do please help.

From memory i tried to report online but I couldn't because I could not access the reporting services online once my payment was suspended so I thought I did not have to report.

Go and talk to them, it's always worth a try. Explain the situation. Tell them you want a review of the decision.

Are you sure that you have been suspended and not cancelled? I recently returned to work and was told that if I exceeded 29 hours per week, and failed to inform Centrelink within 14 days, then DSP would be cancelled and I would have to re-apply again, but if I notify them within 14 days, then it just gets suspended and can be re-started again within 2 years if work ceases. They said that I was allowed to keep the concession card for 12 months as well. I think if you get re-started again you need to be re-assessed under the current impairment tables.
Is it possible that you reported more than 29 hours in a week / 58 in a fortnight? That might have triggered it.
On the reporting aspect, I think the new Centrelink app is a bit stupid, it tells me one day that I am 13 days overdue for reporting, and then the next day it tells me that I have to report in six days.

Quick question, if a dsp cancellation decision is being appealed will i still be paid dsp even after the grace period ends or will i be placed on newstart.. There is no decision yet on the aro appeal.

You can ask that you be paid pending appeal. If this is refused you can apply for NewStart.

Ok, so do i call and ask for payment pending appeal or does the appeal automatically mean i am automatically paid?

It could be automatic, you should ask though.

Hi all, have tried calling centrelink to ask whether ill be paid pending the outcome of my appeal and the phone just hangs up after ive waited for an hour. Cannot get through to centrelink, have called both early and in the afternoon but no answer. I am still waiting for my aro appeal decision, so I was wanting to know if I will still be paid dsp or at least newstart. Does anybody on the forum know how it works with appealing a cancellation? I have spoken to welfare rights and they say a lot of pepole in my position and they hear a lot of calls are unanswered.

I suggest you go in to a Centrelink office and speak to real people. The phone system is not good..

my pension was cancelled early last year as I was overseas too long, this led to the deteriation of my mental health in a mayjor way that resulted in hospitalization in Thailand(I had attempted suicide apparently, I say apparently because I have no memory of it, I just woke up in hospital and had lost a couple of weeks. I have been going through the motions of getting my pension again and finally have a CMO interview this Wednesday. I have lodged medical history, letters from my doctor and a psychiatric report from a psychiatrist, all saying I cant work. I am really stressed about this interview, what should I expect? any help would be great thanx

You just have to go there and tell them what happened; the loss of pension through overstay rather than a medical review, the hospitalisation, the lost weeks and your problems since. You have all your paperwork organised, all you can do now is go along and be yourself.

I appreciate it is scary and what you went through must have been scary. It would be for me. But remember that they are not all 'ogres' and 'they' are bound by 'the system' just as we are. All the very best and keep us posted how things are going.
