I had an email as a result of the last news letter where a member with UP said he was contacted by International Services when he recently qualified for the Age pension and advised not to bother changing over as his status was identical.

But... he just informed me...
I also forgot to mention what happened to me previously, 3 weeks before turning 65 I was informed by my brother that a letter had been sent to me at his address in Aust. from gov. to fill aged pension forms,I notified human services and said I was returning back to for 1 month Aust.and was told I could make a decision about staying on a disability or changing to aged pension when I returned I found they had cut me off my pension when I had turned 65 because I had not filled aged pension form.It took me another 3 weeks to get my pension back with an apology because I argued how can I fill out the forms when I have not got them

Follow up from this post and the subsequent. I always figured that if I live long enough I will just stay on DSP. 1954 birth year so 3 more years, 2016, before OAP. But what I'm reading from the member that contacted you Banjo that I may not get the initial option and they will cut me off until I sort it out?

Sounds like a stuff up to me.
I wouldn't even begin to worry about it until you have about 6 months to go, the goal posts could be anywhere by then, and then start ringing international to make sure that the right info is going into your file.

Banjo"the right info is going into your file" I have 3 addresses. 1 here and 2 in Australia, one of which no longer exists. But the non existent address they call my postal address. And do you think I can get rid of the non existent postal address over the last 3 years! In the end I gave up but I can see from the above it will come back and bite me the closer I get to OAP age. Far outski!

Gee denis 1954 must have been out of alignment with the stars. So as I am in January I will most likely have all the info you need before you turn 65. I always though going onto OAP would be better but not sure anymore. Will probably do nothing unless some advice is given prior or they contact me. Will forget about it until time nears.
