A great hard hitting letter to Michalina Stawyskyj, Branch Manager, International Branch.
Dear Michalina.
I was very surprised to finally ( after nearly six weeks ) get a reply to my earlier emails. However on reading your letter you haven't provided answers to any of my questions. Why not?
Let's first take a look at your letter and address the points you make.
In paragraph two you state that an on-going residence requirement is being introduced in Jan 2011.
1 What is the on-going residence requirement going to be and what is it on-going from?
Detailed answers to my questions would be appreciated, no more bureaucratic gobbledygook, just sensible answers please so DSP recipients know what is happening and can plan accordingly.
In paragraph three you say " While I understand from your letter that you prefer to reside overseas it is not the intention of the 13-week portability period to allow people to live overseas permanently."
I do not reside overseas permanently and in my letters you will find no reference to living overseas. If you took the time to read my original letter attached in my emails to both Jenny and Bill you will see that I have been spending time overseas to be able to live cheaply and thereby have some money left over to help my children, which I wouldn't be able to do if I was trying to survive on my pension in Australia.
Ironic isn't it that you are writing on behalf of The Minister for Families and that it will be my children who will suffer and have to go without because of the proposed new rules.
I am and will remain a permanent resident of Australia. When I leave Australia I am a resident departing temporally and when I return I am a resident returning.
I recently checked with Immigration on residency requirements for Australians and was informed that Australian Citizens are always classed as residents unless they declare themselves non-residents for any reason.
So how can Centrelink deem a person a non-resident and how are they going to access a persons residency?
What is the criteria going to be?
How many 13 week trips are DSP recipients going to be able to make in a one year period under the proposed new rules?
These are very important questions that DSP recipients want and need answers to so please in-depth answers with all the new proposed rules stated clearly so we know what is going to happen next year.
He gives details of other emails to other politicians and bureaucrats.
Bill Shorten:
Please read and take this email seriously. Pass it on for an early reply from your bureaucrat Michalina Stawyskyj. Obviously you are not capable of answering any questions yourself.
Tony Abbott:
I have sent you a couple of emails earlier in relation to this situation so I hope you will go into bat for DSP recipients. If you do you will certainly get my vote and a lot of others as well at the election coming up later this year. I voted for Labor last time but with what is going on in Australia these days with the Rudd Government they are certainly on the way out at the next election.
Jenny Macklin:
I have not received any replies from you at all in relation to my emails and letters sent. Am I surprised? Hell no!
Nick Xenophon:
Sent you a copy of my last correspondence with the above people. So far no reply from you and your thoughts on the matter. Look forward to hearing from you Nick.
Nick Champion:
Got a couple of letters from you recently but as expected no information from you in regard to my questions. Just the fact you have referred it to the relevant department in Canberra. Call them up and ask the questions above and give me some answers or are you going to loose my vote at the next election as well?.
Mat Werful:
As Nicks secretary perhaps you can call the relevant people and find out what the proposed new rules are going to be and answer my questions. Why is it so difficult to get answers to simple questions from you people?
To sum up this whole saga has been handled in a way one can only refer to as a complete stuff up. Par for the course as far as politicians go. To reiterate on some previous comments, you people have lost sight of how you got into Parliament and that you are there to serve the citizens and voters of Australia.
Wake up or the next time you do you won't be in Government.
Serve the people as the public servants you are supposed to be?
Michalina:
Please send your reply from your personal email address so I can get straight back to you. Thanks. I have attached a copy of my original letter sent for your information. Please read it and you will understand more about my situation.
Look forward to finally getting some answers to my questions ASAP ( please not in six weeks time )
Yours etc.
