Hello, after years and years of isolating myself for protection from anxiety caused by contact with humans, I spoke to a few people from Centrelink on the phone in one phone call earlier this week, and ended up accepting that the 'International Services' Dept send me the forms to apply for UP. I am aware of most of the factors to take into consideration, but I thought I have nothing to lose ...well apart from being denied DSP altogether and having to wait on Newstart for four and a half years till I am of age -pension age, and then leave the country. Btw the place I am thinking of returning to has a similar cost of living as in Australia, and no reciprocal arrangement. I have been thinking about going back to where I migrated from to be with 'old friends' rather than family, who are in two other parts of the world. Could anyone who has come across this type of example for the need for UP, please share your knowledge and experiences, thank you.

Welcome avpd.
We've had a number of Europeans and Middle Easterners successfully apply for UP and return to their former home countries. One commutes back to Australia from Turkey most years to see his children.
Good luck with your application and keep us informed.
