Welcome to the forum louey.
If you haven't heard anything in a month give International Services a call on 131 673.

Welcome.
Yeah a month sounds about right, it could take three back when we were all applying but the traffic's cleared a bit now.

Hi Nomadic ,
A little bit of background for perspective. I am 40 years old and have been on the Dsp for approximately 8 years, I have a full time care giver that is recognized by centerlink, and until as recently as November last year I worked once a month as a specialist consultant to D.F.A.T. Consular training and policy. I have complex P.T.S.D and was written off by all medical professionals and centerlink for what would be the remainder of my working life. I have no intention of moving overseas, but am wanting to spend four months a year at a meditation and wellness retreat that specializes in aiding people with P.T.S.D. The problem is that it is not a recognized treatment in Australia hence why I have had to apply for UP. I first called centerlink international the first week of May, I received all the forms in three weeks and posted them back on the 31 st of May. I have received the appointment date for the JCA appointment which is on the 15 th of August.
I have to admit that I am very nervous of the outcome as I have read so many horror stories and not one positive experience, that being said it has been a relatively painless experience for me so far and hopefully I can be that positive story for someone else .
I will definitely keep you updated.
Cheers Louey

I also have PTSD and was granted UP under the age of 30 a few years back now. My application took around 4 months from first call to approval if I remember rightly. The most interesting thing about my case is that I was working for about 20-30 hours a week for just over a year up until about 3-4 months prior to applying for UP which I thought would have got me denied UP but in the end all was good. I decided to bite the bullet and apply that time since I was going to be reviewed anyway along with all the under 35's.
On my JCA it reads "Whilst there is an employment history on the department of human services 'earnings' screen, the information provided by a range of treating health professionals confirms frequent, severe exacerbations of mental health conditions with multiple psychiatric admissions. This will have resulted in *aussie_24* regularly requireing sick leave from work, with extended periods of absence from work coupled with recurrent exacerbations resulting in loss of employment."

Hi to all, just a quick update . I had my JCA appointment this morning , I met with a lovely young lady who is a Phycologist. Firstly she assured me that we would not be talking about the reason why I have PTSD Just the affect on my life. My full time care giver who is recognized by centerlink was in the appointment with me, and she directed her first question at him, if he was a live in care giver and does he do the grocery shopping? The answer was yes to both questions , she then asked me if I used public transport ? A resounding no from both myself and care giver.
She then went on to say that she could not grant me up but with the reports from my doctors and herself it will just be a matter of weeks for the outcome and that all reports strongly favor my application. And that was it. about 7 minutes from start to finish.
Woohoo

Hi , I’m winging it , arrived in Phuket Monday night to a notice my pension has been suspended. I am going to call centerlink international on Monday to see how things are progressing with the up. Can anyone tell me if I will get packpaid for the time on suspension if the up is successful? Cheers
