WESTPAC customers whose Centrelink or pension payments have been interrupted by a computer systems malfunction can arrange an overdraft if they are in hardship. Westpac spokesman Paul Marriage said systems had been put in place in branches and at call centres to help affected customers. "In this particular case this measure has been set up to help customers," Mr Marriage said. Those needing top up funds can call 132032 to arrange temporary overdrafts. Have you been affected? Tell us in the comments section below. A problem processing one batch of payments overnight led to the bank’s entire payment system being frozen overnight. Mr Marriage said the bank took the precaution to suspend all overnight payments until the problem was fixed. That led to a backlog in payment processing from that point on which the bank hoped to clear by Tuesday afternoon. Payments into and out of Westpac bank accounts have been affected, leading to problems for customers at Australia’s other banks. Not affected are ATM, POS, online banking, telephone banking and branch banking. www.couriermail.com.au/news/national/westpac-customers-hit-by-computer-glitch-can-apply-for-overdraft-if-they-are-in-hardship/story-e6freooo-1226102051526
