Gidday all;
Just popping in here to say hello, so Hello!!.... and ask a few quick questions.
I applied for the DSP the first time 2 1/2 years ago for mental health issues and was rejected at the time. I applied again exactly a year ago in January and was granted the allowance in May 2017. My diagnosis is severe Bipolar 2 Disorder which caused social isolation, repeated hospitalisation and other factors; I was assessed under the new tables as not being able to work at all permanently (no mutual obligation). I am not aware of how many points I was assesed with but am aware I can access this information under the freedom of information act (thanks to this board).
I have been browsing this forum for a while now and had a few quick questions which have almost been answered already but I wanted some clarification from you peoples if that is cool;
Fist question is about unlimited portability;
To my understanding, as I was assessed under the new rules and tables, I am eligible to apply for this as I was assessed with permanent inability to work in my usual trade (was an IT guy) and have no mutual obligation requirements. Does unlimited portability allow travel to SE Asia? Specifically Indonesia?? If so, for how long exactly? Also; how do I apply?? The human services website does not make this clear. I will call on Monday but any help and advice would be appreciated.
I did try to work this year in a labor intensive job for 15 hours a week but sadly my disability got in the way of this and subsequently this lasted a mere 6 weeks. Will this affect anything?
Second question is: can I access my Superannuation based on simply being assesed with a permanent disability / assessed as not being able to work, at all? Or do I still need paperwork from 2 health professionals? Can get this from my Clinical Psychologist,GP and Psychiatrist.
Thank you all in advance; this board has been invaluable and it makes me feel a lot less in the dark.

Hi manekast,
Great to see you decided to join up, welcome to the forum. You seem to have a rather good understanding of everything from what I have just read.
I have a very limited understanding of UP so I won't try to clarify any of your queries. I am sure one of the other members who has more knowledge on the topic of UP will be along shortly and will answer your questions for you.
Great to have you here.

Hi manekast Welcome to the forum. I'll try and answer your questions as best as possible. First up if you are going to apply for UP it would be a good idea to apply for your file under the F.O.I act.As this should contain all the information you need in your application, plus anything that Centrelink may wish to use as evidence. Secondly, you will need to have a JCA assessment and be assessed by one of Centrelinks Dr,s before leaving Australia,the qualifying criteria for UP is 20 points on one single table ( read up on the relevant table and make sure you understand everything) Then you will need to be assessed as 0-2 per week for the next 5 years (CITW) Continued inability to work. As far as your Superannuation is concerned, get in touch with your Superannuation company, they will inform you of all the specific requirements. Yes it probably is best that you get assessments from either a Clinical Psychologist/ Psychiatrist as they are both specialists in this particular field Finally be methodical in all your research, leave no stone unturned All the best Itsa

manakast One of my favourites at the moment! Slowly slowly catchee monkey, so unless you are aware of the points given for your Bi Polar, 20 in the One Table and if Mental Illness is the sole table, seriously consider getting your Psyche on board or at least see how they feel about it. Then approach some support services for a Support worker to help with writing your Personal Submission and Supply you with an Advocate for your JCA. All the best with it. Cheers bear.
PS It really is, literally, a mine field.

JCA = job capacity assessment of which I had 2. One whose only job it was and one by an occupational therapist. both said i was unemployable which is what you want for UP even if it sounds horrible. The first one even apologized before she told me. I laughed all the way to UP albeit years later because of other complications.

The JCA is to determine your work capacity. The aim is I think, 2-7 hrs a week, but I could be incorrect. Cheers bear

Hi manekast JCA stands for Job Capacity assessment/ Job Capacity assessor, which are from the following areas of expertize, Nurses, Psychologists, Physiotherapists, it really depends on the client being interviewed. I would suggest they endeavour to have a specialist interview a client with appropriate personal but it's not always the case. By the way, if you reach the JCA stage of the process, it would be in your interests to bring a support person to the interview. Best wishes Itsa

manekast To apply give International Services a call (131673). The wait times are usually endurable, and ask for application forms for a portability assessment.. There isn't a due date to have them in by. So please take your time,to do your best for a good shot at it.
You asked about SE Asia, with UP, you can live wherever you want for as long as you like and move about anywhere, as A Free Person.
Nice description for JCA itsa I was running on empty. Cheers bear
