I do not understand in this time how they say they shut the borders to all people who are not residents of Aus then they sneak a real small article in the paper about bringing in thousands of people from other countries to go to farms and fruit and veg pick after having a government paid mandatory two week hotel stay for isolation??? We have just had a half the country loose their jobs (even if it is temporary) and they are bringing in overseas workers?? So our borders are not actually closed and our lack of work is not actually such a big problem or strain on the economy?? This makes no sense to me whatsoever. Also on the isolation topic- they know that 14 days is not enough and people are coming down with the virus a few days after completing their 14 day isolation period. I do not understand this world and after all this mess I am honestly not sure I ever will.

I feel the same, I don't understand, and everyday there seems to be even more I don't understand. I'm finding it quite difficult to know what to believe in regard to what is true, what may be a conspiracy theory and what is just utter rubbish. But there you have it; cheers bear

I live in an area where the back packers pick the fruit . They are all gone. Hostels closed ,, pickers all gone. Farmers are panicked . Crops will need picking ,, or rot in the ground . It’s that simple . It’s no job for a local ;( read white Australian ). Sorry,,, but it’s true. They will need to replace those back packers pronto. Well,, as soon as the different crops need to come up. No pickers ,, no food .

gee h4000 I'm a bit envious apart from my beautiful sea view room. That super market in Siem Reap has a great range of food. But had good fish and chips last night with red wine after beer and nibbles as the big red moon rose over the ocean. I bet you can get a cheap tour of Angkor currently with all those tuk tuk's out of work. So we really are the lucky ones with our pensions. Places where we are rely on tourism almost 100%. So zero is so sad for them. Nothing like this has ever happened before. And just as Cambodia & Laos in particular were starting to get somewhere after all the horrors. How long can you stay there for? What happens when your visa ends as all borders closed? Are they giving free extensions? OK, sit back and enjoy as best you can.

Hi Nomadic, the tourist visas are extended for free indefinitely at the moment i think because as you said, all borders are closed. But i opted for the ordinary visa this time, trying to save space in my passport, so i had to pay up for the extension. It is noce here though, also nicer with less tourists and yes atleast at the moment the big supermarket is still open so one can still get everything you'd find in a woolworths.

Not quite woolies I don't think. But pretty good for Cambodia. Walk a bit further past it out of town and a local food market has best amok and fruit shakes are best ever also. Avocado one especially. Usually only locals all the time and is really cheap. Before lucky plaza. Enjoy as we head to a pizza restaurant here tonight behind closed doors as friend knows owner. Only take away only here currently but they cook for us to eat in. with beer or wine. So no growls here in the clean air south. We really got lucky being here when all things closed down and northern pollution began.

Foreigners allowed to enter Thailand on case-by-case basis
Under phase 3 of the lockdown relaxation, foreigners with work permits or permission from the Labour Ministry or other government agencies will be allowed to enter the country after registration, the Foreign Ministry announced on Friday (May 29).
“Permission to enter does not cover all groups as we are proceeding step by step,” said deputy spokesman Natapanu Nopakun at a daily briefing on the Covid-19 situation. The Foreign Ministry has informed Thailand’s foreign chambers of commerce about the relaxation. Eligible foreign nationals are invited to submit applications at Thai Embassies in their countries. They must have health insurance and a health certificate. They will also be subject to 14- quarantine on entry to Thailand, either in a state facility or in a private facility at their own cost.Details of the letter sent to all foreign chambers of commerce in Thailand are as follows:1. The Royal Thai Government's invocation of the Emergency Decree on Public Administration in Emergency Situations BE2548 (2005) (No I) dated 25 March BE2563 (2020) to control the outbreak of the Coronavirus Disease (Covid-19), closes the entry into the Kingdom of non-Thai nationals, in accordance with the laws on communicable diseases and immigration. However, clause 3 (5) of the Regulation issued under the said Emergency Decree, also allows non-Thai nationals who either possess a valid work permit or have already been granted permission from a Thai government agency to work in the Kingdom, to apply for permission to enter the Kingdom.2. It is, however, requested that only those in urgent need to enter the Kingdom may submit an application for entry. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in consultation with the Board of Investment and the Ministry of Labour, will consider all requests for entry on a case by case basis, taking into account urgency and economic importance, among others.3. The procedure for non-Thai nationals who wish to submit an application for entry are as follows:3.1 Contact the Royal Thai Embassy or the Royal Thai Consulate-General in their country of departure to apply for 'Certificate ofEntry into the Kingdom of Thailand" at least 10 working days before the date of intended departure. The applicants must present:(1) copy of his work permits or copy of Ietter of permission issued by a Thai Government agency (in most cases, by the Ministry of Labour) to work in Thailand; (2) a valid health insurance policy covering all expenditures of medical treatment, including Covid-19 worth at least 100,000 USD.3.2 The Thai Embassy/Consulate-General will forward the application to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Bangkok. If the application is approved, the Thai Embassy/Consulate-General will be instructed to issue the "Certificate of Entry into the Kingdom of Thailand" and appropriate visa to the applicant.4. At the port of departure/embarkation (eg airline check-in counter), the approved applicant is required to present (I) a "Certificate of Entry into the Kingdom of Thailand" issued by the Royal Thai Embassy Consulate-General; (II) a completed and signed "Declaration Form" obtained from the Embassy/Consulate-General; (III) a Fit to Fly Health Certificate' issued no more than 72 hours before departure; and (IV) a health insurance covering all expenditures of medical treatment, including Covid-19, while traveling to Thailand in an amount of at least 100,000 USD.5. Upon entry into the Kingdom, non-Thai nationals will be subjected to a 14-day state quarantine at a government-designated Alternative State Quarantine (ASQ) facility at their own expenses, and obliged to comply with the government's disease prevention measures pursuant to clause 11 of the Regulation issued under Section 9 of the said Emergency Decree.Related news:Third phase of easing of lockdown starts on June 1Curfew reduced to 11pm-3am www.nationthailand.com/news/30388723?utm_source=homepage&utm_medium=internal_referralTags: Phetchaburi's beaches open for visitors from June 1 May 30. 2020 Big jump in number of train passengers May 30. 2020 10 Bangkok markets May 30. 2020 ThaiChana compulsory for visits to 10 Bangkok markets May 30. 2020 Big jump in number of train passengers May 30. 2020 ThaiChana compulsory for visits to markets, 7/11's, Big C, Tesco etc. in Chiang Mai, as well as some stores within centres.

If you haven't got a smart phone to scan a QR Code, you won't be getting into the shops nomadic!! Nah.....just jokin'; you'll have to sign in the old fashioned way. With a pen on a sheet of paper. I don't consider it a big deal. You scan to go in, you open the saved data when you're leaving, click exit, get a green check mark. Other social media sites are freaking out about privacy, tracking etc.. Not quite sure how they'd do that with this application..... especially if the phone isn't registered. Cheers bear

They have the QR codes prominently displayed but they don't appear to be enforcing their use. Or the physical sign in for that matter.
