I'm in the Central Visayas region Cebu It's Scary stuff bear. Been through two fairly direct hits in Oz with Cat.3&4. It's Scary stuff alright; but from reports of previous ones there and the absolute devastation, I'd say it just maybe scarier than in Oz. Take care, stay safe, all the best, to all of you over there, cheers bear!

I can't even begin to imagine what they are like. A big thunder storm here scares me as dogs run under bed i almost join them. Do you have underground bunkers? They say it will hit the north. But even here in Thailand they have warned of heavy rain from it until next Tuesday. Lots of floods all over the place this year and looks like more to come.

All good here in Argao, Cebu. Where I am is more effected by storms out of the South East.
The main area hit seems to be Luzon Island and Manila up North and I see that Hong Kong is getting the full blast.

If the ants are everywhere it means stuff is going to happen sometime in the next few days At the moment haven't seen an ant as I think they have battened down the hatches. LOL The other one I use is the local water buffalo called caribao en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CarabaoThey normally contented in a mud wallow but if you see them stand up it more than likely means it's going to be a lot of water fall out of the sky. LOL

I just saw the big death toll again in the Philippines and a very rare storm in South Thailand with 6 dead and tens of thousands of houses partly or totally destroyed. Woke up during the night to what I thought was a running tap. A few hours later still hear it but realise it is raining and later on thunder and lighting. So now non stop for at least 5 hours which is an unusually long time at any time of year but in 25 years ever seen rain in north Thailand in January. "THEY" keep saying more extreme and more often but still the other THEY do nothing in real terms to stop it. Massive unhealthy pollution in Bangkok yesterday and more to come. POLITICIANS is all I can think of as to the reasons why. They also had a 7 deadly days road campaign over the holidays. More dead than last year. 60 a day which is exactly the same as the other 365 days a year and no politician does a thing to stop it. The campaign now done until next year as the daily slaughter continues. Education and law enforcement can only be changed by that same mob. But that won't win votes here or anywhere else.

What was the death toll in the Philippines, missed that data.
Here in the southeast from Manila we copped 3 days of rain, as before we lost all communication, electricity and water the authorities were calling it a tropical low, and as I have been through 4 cyclones in Aussie including Tracy, I thought yeah pull the other one.
The locals that have been here all their lives told me that they have never seen so much water in one day, the usually quiet little river at the back of our property turned into a raging torrent, we lost all our bananas, papaya and 6 inches of land out the back that was swept into the river.
On a side note when we were buying a new refrigerator I went looking for one with good insulation, so the LG we bought was a good one as everything was still frozen in the freezer compartment after 2 and a half days without power, the beer fridge didn't fair so well, it only lasted about 6 hours before starting to warm up so drastic measures had to be taken which included drinking the coldest beers. When I was a young bloke in Darwin, yes still in the Navy, we always had post cyclone parties, so the tradition lives on.

It was a day or 2 ago i read it but I think was 126 dead from memory east and central and now 9 hours non stop rain here. Not heavy but very unusual to say the least. Yes, bad weather brings tragic tales. A few years ago was stuck in Had Yai guest house on 2nd floor for 2 days with 10 feet of water in the streets. No electricity but plenty of warm beer with the Brits who didn't bat an eyelid. What crap the Aussie song is. Droughts and flooding plains, They have no idea. Traffic jams also. Moan moan moan. Take care as always.
