Hi all. I’m going to Bali in November. This is the first time overseas. I tried to advise Centrelink online but it said I couldn’t do it online doe to complicated rules. I don’t know what these rules are. The trip is for 5 days in November. I’m on the DSP. I have an advanced payment that is due to finish in November. I was working casual but haven’t worked in over a year and have stopped reporting. Just wondering if anyone else couldn’t advise online about there holiday. Any feedback/advice will be greatly appreciated.

l got the same thing when l tried to advise online, l think everyone on the DSP gets that ' complicated rules message' , and gets blocked from reporting o/s travel online , l think you have to either ring centrelink or go into the office in person to tell them you are going oversea, some of the guys here said rining centrelink international in the best way to go. Its nothing to worry about , you are not being singled out with the complicated rules message , everyone gets it

If you have not travelled for more than 4 weeks overseas in the 12 months prior to November the 5 days will continue to be paid as per your usual payment. When you go through immigration your time away will be recorded in your Centrelink file... The reason anyone on DSP is advised they cannot report their travel online is because the 28 days in a rolling 12 months appears not to be able to be easily calculated. We travelled overseas for 15 days last June and could have gone in mid May for a further 13 days without any loss of DSP.

Welcome to the forum wabomberboy. tasjo has explained it well. Call CIS (Centrelink International Services) 131673. They are the go to people for Overseas Travel & Living. Generally a very short wait time; especially if you call early. Very approachable and very professional bunch down there in Hobart. Cheers bear

Maybe I'm totally up the river but for 5 days why would you have to tell them at all as they track us through immigration and by the time they realize you have left you will probably already be back.

Because the rules say if DSP'ers don't have UP, they must report travel plans nomadic . We all know how crazy it is considering we're well and truly tracked & monitored, but I think it's best not to rock the boat and be a chancer. Specially first time out. Cheers bear

Cheers bear Its like something out of north korea or Iran, having to ask the governments permission to travel overseas and tell them where you are going, but people on centrelink payments are a discriminated persecuted second class clitizens in Australia, The liberasl are human rights criminals breaking united nations laws protecting the disabled, just look at the welfare card where the governemt wants to tell us where we are allowed to shop and what we are allowed to buy.no other country in the world disabled pensions are told how they are allowed to spend their money, things will get even worse now the liberasl have won. l just hope they don't reduce travel time even less then 4 weeks or cut off payments all togther if we go overseas, like with newstart , l think if your on newstart your payment is canceled if you go overseas. <iframe width="18.72" height="5.5" id="MoatPxIOPT0_67506825" scrolling="no" style="border-style: none; left: 15px; top: -5px; width: 18.72px; height: 5.5px; position: absolute; z-index: -9999;"></iframe> <iframe width="18.72" height="5.5" id="MoatPxIOPT0_53918421" scrolling="no" style="border-style: none; left: 881px; top: -5px; width: 18.72px; height: 5.5px; position: absolute; z-index: -9999;"></iframe> <iframe width="18.72" height="5.5" id="MoatPxIOPT0_4302582" scrolling="no" style="border-style: none; left: 15px; top: 213px; width: 18.72px; height: 5.5px; position: absolute; z-index: -9999;"></iframe> <iframe width="18.72" height="5.5" id="MoatPxIOPT0_57072538" scrolling="no" style="border-style: none; left: 881px; top: 213px; width: 18.72px; height: 5.5px; position: absolute; z-index: -9999;"></iframe>

The situation is dire. Wombat's fears are justified....some awful things are going to be perpetrated by the Libs....

The worst thing is most of the population don't give a stuff what the liberals will do to us, the mainstream corporate media is on the liberals side and make out all people on centrlink payments to be bludgers, rorter, fruadsters sending the country broke. No one cares about the DSP's or newstarters unless they become unemployed or disabled themselves , then thye get a huge shock how cruel the system is
