Just looking to buy my ticket from Manila Philippines to Gold Coast on the 23rd of Febuary and Cebu Pacific have a flight for approx $30 from Manila to Kuala Lumpur and then fly from Kuala Lumpur to Gold Coast via Air Asia for approx $95 so a grand total of $125 from Manila to Gold Coast taxes included.

You can get lucky some times. I actually overstayed this year to get a better deal on the return flight, Centrelink docked me 50 bucks for a day late but I got about $200 saving on the flight.
What a difference a day makes.....

What a difference a day makes..... How exactly does it work if I am a day or two late back due to a flight delay etc. Do I need to reapply for the Pension or do they just reinstate it after notifying of my return to Australia? I would hate if I was delayed and then I had to reapply for the pension which could take longer then 18 months due to the new rules about looking for work first.

You can actually overstay 13 weeks before they cut you off. I told them I would be a day late getting back when I left Australia and they were totally unconcerned, just said I would lose a day's pension for every day I was late.
If you miss a flight or something then the same thing happens.
Just remember that if you get sick overseas you should get a letter from a treating doctor or hospital and claim back the lost payments when you return to Australia.
If you are more than 13 weeks late then they will cancel your pension and you have to reapply when you get back. (And explain what you've been living on, no doubt).
When I was cut off in 2009 for overstaying they conned me into reapplying but when the pension was reinstated it was still under the old system. I found out later they did not want me appealing their decision because they knew it would not hold up. This year their decision was overturned and I was completely back paid but it was a hassle at the time.
