Rachael doing her best to have Ruston change the jobs jobs jobs narrative. Just another narcissist devoid of empathy!!
Older workers are facing a crisis. We are in a job market with very limited opportunities and where we know age discrimination is a huge problem.
Come April 1, those older Australians, a larger number of whom are women will be condemned to $44 a day, because the jobs are just not there. By design this system is forcing people to rely on their savings because we know that they can't survive on $44 a day, until they turn 67 and can access the aged penion. This system entrenches poverty and disadvantage. www.facebook.com/RachelSiewert/videos/355987419009292/

Don't think you will be better off at 67. I am on full pension being married to a non qualifying wife due to age. A wife that has never worked. Our pension is $620 per fortnight.
Across the road is a 35 year old with 5 kids all suffering from marijuana fumes smoked by both parents, as such all 5 deemed autistic.
The first 4 sent home from kindy and primary school on first day due to swearing at teacher, now all get home tutoring.
Both parents now get careers allowance for the 5 plus home tutor allowance. Talking to him the other day he or his wife has never worked 1 day in their life but get a Centrelink payment of $3,600 per fortnight ++ for rent and power. He has a new 24' boat a 16'crabbing boat, a new Land Cruiser and 2 year old Holden Calais.
Up the road is a Solo mum with 4 kids, never worked. Drives a brand new top of range Land Cruiser.
I never claimed a payment from Centrelink before I retired in fact paid over 4 million in income tax. Now we starve while bludgers flourish.

I understand what you are saying and going through it must be very tough for you watching all of this, after a life of hard yakka. I'm not advocating rorting the system, but have you ever thought of just sitting down and calmly going through what you may be entitled to. These people are not silly and know exactly how to use the system to their benefit, I suggest you do the same if you cant beat them join them. Cheers Itsa

G'day daveolesarge and welcome to the forum. I concur with itsmylife08 , and if you study the link, collect the application form, then you may just be pleasantly surprised and able to get a full single Aged Pension under Section 24 by claiming poverty.
Even with your wife living under the same roof; though as you probably now realize, dealing with Government Agencies isn't exactly a walk in the park. Professional help is available from various agencies, depending on which state you live in.
See here: guides.dss.gov.au/guide-social-security-law/2/2/5/50As a heads up; the quote in this post would have been sufficient. The rest of your post is superfluous and not the kind of thing we encourage on the forum, as we are well aware of the situation regarding welfare issues and we discourage sentiments likely to lead to political discussion or disparagement of any particular cohort engaged in the system. We much prefer to focus on helping those whose names the forum carries; Disability Support & Old Aged Pensioners and their Carers. Cheers bear

Indeed, this forum has never been about the few who take advantage of the system but the many who cannot cope with it.
