With recently going deaf in my left ear I had to find a ENT specialist to check out my ears. Never in my life back in Australia (at least since I've been on the pension) would I have had gone to a private hospital clinic. QualiMed is the name of the hospital and talk about new, modern and upmarket. Usually I dislike going to hospitals but this place was the Rolls Royce of hospitals. The kind doctor checked out my ears and said I had a ear infection so he prescribed eardrops and medication. The total price for the visit was just over P2200 Pesos ($57AUD) including the medication. An ENT specialist in a private hospital back in Australia would have cost me $450 AUD just for the consultation fee.
Thankyou for your help QualiMed Mandurriao, see you in 3 weeks for a follow up checkup.
Cheers
A happy patient
J

It's certainly not the everyday maladies that are the problem in Asia Jay. They are cheap as chips. Eg. Full blood work up at private surgery, computer generated results + return visit for results Bht 2,500 (Aud$ 100). Outpatient examination at government hospital; Tramadol 150 dispensed for pain + one other med. Bht 360 (Aud$ 15.00)
Health insurance is out of reach for many expats with pre-existing conditions and with a sudden need for hospitalization + surgery, the cost is stratospheric; and here, that needs to be paid upfront. Stay well my friends; cheers 🐻

In the south where I go to avoid pollution, they have an ENT clinic where you just arrive at 5.00 and wait your turn. A$20 to get ears cleaned. I once walked in off the street and saw an orthopedic surgeon 30 minutes later. Ex-rays and diagnosis within an hour. Less than A$50.00. Takes weeks just to get an appointment in Australia for a specialist. A developed country?
