Job Provider and DSP - Questions

1) I feel like my Job Provider is being a bully and not understanding of my circumstances. What do I need to do to be able to pick and change to another provider? Will my current provider know about it? Will it be a quick and easy process in changing?

2) My current Job Provider keeps trying so hard to put me into part time employment even though they know my hardships and struggles. If I can’t find a solution and they put me into part time employment would this affect my DSP Claim in the future since they put me into work? Or accepting work or not wont have any affect on future DSP claims and won’t determine me as being able to work? Anyone know and is there anything else I can do about this situation feeling so trapped don’t know what to do?

1) you shouldn't ever feel bullied by your Job Provider. You can change them, and if I had any suggestion - based only on personal experience (both as a 'client' and an employer, I have found the not for profit ones less pressure (ie salvation army, anglicare etc)

2) i believe the only time a DSP recipient can be 'forced' to accept a job is if you are a younger recipient (below 25 I think?). You would need to check what your benchmark hours and required activities are. Generally you would find that there are a number of hours you are 'required' to work and hours you can work 'with support'.

Another option available to you is to study. Make it clear to your provider if this is something you want to do and if they go against your wishes, ask to speak to a supervisor or manager. Always check that your plan reflects what you have discussed.

If you do work, doing less than 15 hours a week wouldn't affect your dsp eligibility should it be reviewed.
