Hello to all the wine drinkers out there.
Has chateau cardboard improved over the years?
Seeing that there is a lot of blended wines on the shelves these days, my question is:
Is there any reason not to go down the road (seeing I don’t drive anymore) of the wines in a cask?
I am looking at the reds.
As a disclaimer I am not looking for something right now.
I arrived back in Australia yesterday and went to the pub for a counter meal, imagine my shock they asking 40 dollars for a steak.
Anyway all replies will be appreciated and kept in confidence.
TIA

Not a drinker so can't help with the wine question but I would've been eating steak everyday at four bucks a pop onemore More like $ 40+ from my recent experiences over there. Cheers 🐻

Not sure of the cask prices but know it’s super easy to get bottles of red for less than $7 at most bottle shops or outlets, not blends either. Aldi are the best and also win prizes for their wines, they often have reds for $2.99 - $4.99!!!!!!! (Being a person with no idea of reds I’ve invested in them all and can recommend them all - hic hic).
The price of pub meals has gone up a lot. There is often a special for lunch which is cheaper or a daily special. I get a rump with chips for $13 on a Wednesday, massive salad is an extra $4.
And remember they often have happy hour each late afternoon.

Cheers 🐻 spec savers for bear. $4.00 steaks was $40.00. cask wine has improved greatly over the decades. Yalumba being my box of choice when in Oz. For the price/quality Yellow Tail wins by a mile for both red and white in a bottle.

I had a mate in Cliveden Mansions Brisbane who was fond of Chateau Cardboard too fond I think as he lost his accommodation because of it. His room had to be cleaned up obviously, and in the process, more than 60 empty wine casks were found which cost around $4-$8 a cask at the time Rocket fuel... Cheers Itsa
