As stated in my wine post, I returned to Australia yesterday.
I contacted DVA to inform them of my return as I said I would do, no problems there except for the conversation turning to when I mentioned that I would be heading overseas again in a few months if not sooner.
The person did say that it is my responsibility to inform them before I go and how let them know how long I am going for.
This was my response
“ Now stop right there, I am a single man and a returned serviceman, so if you’re trying to tell me that I have to report my comings and goings to you people, that is not going to happen “.
The person back peddled there and changed the subject to my responsibility to inform them of if I am going to exceed my six weeks allowable.
As I have previously mentioned this idea that when you go through passport control (YES CONTROL) that it is linked to all government services is probably a furphy.
Although having said that all of the government agencies can access our information should they want to with impunity.
Now that I have stirred myself up remembering that conversation, WHERE IS THE RED WINE?.
Thanks

I advised I was leaving on myGov, to travel for an unspecified length of time, so waiting to see that if after six months I get a reprimand of some sort.
My AWLR won't see any reduction in pay, but whether they'll cut me off out of spite, thinking I should have told them I was leaving permanently remains to be seen.
Having medical issues makes it nigh on impossible to say whether you're leaving permanently or not.i I'd reckon. Cheers 🐻

It would be bloody awful for your Pension to be cut off whilst overseas over a mere mis-understanding or mis communication. Forgetfulness is my main enemy. Cheers J
