Issues with myGov......anybody else?

G'day all, this morning I was just going to jump onto myGov like I've done untold times before. No worries, one secret question and then no further, prompted to try out Digital ID and return to myGov and finish signing in. So; I sign up for the Digital ID bizzo...... Bit of mucking about but it's producing codes.

This is where the fun began; trying to switch between apps and not finding anywhere to put in the code. Nevermind; I'll have another go at just signing in again. Name, password..... Ahh, code box. Just not the digital ID code box as it turned out. A code box for the myGov code generator app it said. Rightio, download, install; but it must be registered. Cannot register because the Digital ID is registered on 'this device' isn't it!!

Research..... To connect digital ID to myGov you must do so from inside the myGov app itself or remove that ID to maybe register the generator. Nothing was clear as evidenced by the comments on the Play Store; but if you continue to have problems call the myGov helpline.

Luckily they've got an overseas number (see below), so guess who'll be up at 4.00 am to call them at opening time and hopefully get it sorted. 

I've spoken with a person in Oz who said they were still being granted access via secret questions two weeks ago but, there were info boxes throughout the aforementioned processes stating secret questions were being made redundant because they're just not secure enough. 🤣 🤣 🤣

Out of interest, for over a year now my first two or three random secret questions have failed but really; like I don't know 'my first pet's name, favourite subject at school, favourite childhood book or which car I learnt to drive in.' Thankfully I always gained access on that third or last❓ NOT THIS TIME THOUGH❗

Oh forewarned is forearmed...... there's a face scan involved in setting up the Digital ID which requires removing visual aids. It makes things interesting trying to see and read the on-screen instructions with your phone up against your face to fit it within the frame. The experience is quite interesting with multicoloured swirls and no actual photographic image...... like a mini acid trip. Good luck, all the best fellow forum members; cheers 🐻

I got a strange email from someone claiming to be Australian Taxation Office/MyGov today, it went into spam.

Your income statement has been finalised by your employer(s). Kindly click the aulodgementpay.info link to access ATO online.


Your registered tax agent will be able to view your income statement to lodge.

There's certainly some weird stuff happening Banjo . Setting up the Digital ID is done from an ATO page.

After two phone calls, with one dropping out, them releasing my email to create a new account with the same credentials and using secret questions because they can't send SMS codes to overseas numbers, code generators and Digital ID won't work either, according to the CSO.

I'm currently locked out of my new account for two hours because the answers to the questions are 'not the ones we have on file' 🤣 and although I exited before I'd used up the allotted number of attempts; (5), by trying to access myGov through the App I went over, because, you guessed it; they wanted secret question answers again and they were still wrong, so, I haven't succeeded in having a fully functional account again yet!! 

Two documents were originally asked for in the set-up process to link Centrelink.... No worries❗
Passport & Licence; accepted.... Next...... Medicare Card; huh❓ Wasn't that an option; not mandatory. I was waiting to have a photo of that sent from Oz when it timed out, kicked me off and closed the page.

Next phone call.... I've now been given a large numeric keypad and created my own six digit PIN and  I'll try it all again when it unlocks. At least you can call them up until 10.00 pm AEDT.  Hmmmm..... 7.00 am to 10.00 pm for an Australian Government Help Line. Sort of says a lot. Do they have issues❓

The main purpose of the App appears to be as a login portal and somewhere for them store your personal information on your devices, because, you have to click on 'Go to myGov' from within it's menu, where you're redirected to the site. Weird as.... Cheers 🐻

Update.... Success, sort of.

Totally different UI from what was before; but it is now accessible. My Health Record & Centrelink are linked to myGov but even though Centrelink wants some personal details updated, it doesn't let you fill anything out and says my removed to edit info will revert back to the previous in a couple of weeks.

I used the exact same 'Medicare Card' info to link MHR & Centrelink, as used in trying to link Medicare,  but Medicare won't play the game and wants a phone call from me. Won't be happening!! Possibly it's got something to do with my concession card no longer being in the system.

myGov was a debacle when it first arrived and eventually became okay. It's gone from debacle to total shemozzle with this iteration. 

There was roughly 20 minutes of human contact in the three calls with approx 120 minutes of wait time, not to mention yesterday's useless effort in downloading & setting up the the two apps which can't be used, plus call costs which could've been much better spent. 

Between the first & second attachment....keypad....forward to update/change login......forward to 'Go to linked services'. 

Lucky I'm retired 'n' have nothing better to do than Beta Test for myGov eh!! 🤣 🤣 🤣 Cheers 🐻

I have been having trouble with my gov for months and have contacted Services and they cannot fix it so i will just have to do without.

I actually don't have one either. They refuse to give me one until I'm back in an Australian Centrelink office. I've tried through umm the international Australian diplomat offices, sorry, I forget the write wording. No not even through any means. I just ring Australian international disability when necessary.

I had one for many years, but lost it recently when Vodafone put it in quarantine after I forgot to reload for some time.

I guess that it was my fault,as I was aware of the consequences of not doing so .I actually found that having one was quite useful at times and got very much used to it for various reasons.

The flip side for me is that I feel you're been held to ransom by another big multi national for not complying with their rules.
