morning lads & ladetts, just a quick queery i have been led to believe by the wise ones that if were really smart we can get a 59 day visa upon arrival at most entry points into PR as long as your do not go through immergrassion first and have the cash in hand, apprently at manila airport just before the immergrasion desk there is an office to your left where you can pay immediatly for the rip off visa fees up to 59 days, i have been told this by a PR immergrasion bloke awhile ago in cebu, he warned me to keep the recipt just in case, anyhow have any of the members ever done this at manila or othur entry points into PI ? is it not a bloody pain in the arse renewing the bloody visa every few months, one with a bit of brain would think they would give a 3 month visa straight up without jerking us around (not off ;D) i don't mind paying a bit of cash for a visa but the pissing around getting a bloody visa all the time gives me the tom tits, thats why i prefere to travel and live in countrys that are not so much of a bloody hassle with the visa's, any advice gladly accepted thanks cheers BB ;D

Just be careful... Some years ago a mate of mine was staying in the North of The Philippines and getting his Visa extension done through a Travel agent, after one year he was at the air port flying back to OZ when Immigration claimed the visa extensions were fake and he finished up in the Immigration jail in Manila for a few days until he paid all of the back money plus fines and also got Black Listed.
I am not sure what you are talking about at the air port because i haven't been to P.I. in over 10 years. I am just saying be very careful plenty of scams there.

unfortunately its very hard to be very careful due to the nature of the transaction that is corrupt. However the best bet is to do this transaction within the vicinity of the airport/embassy.
my very last visa from Cambodia involved giving my passport to a man in a brown suit outside the embassy without a receipt but he did give me his biz card and it was a 24 hr service(2000bht i think) and it went through okay.
most of these dodgy people do it obviously to supplement their embassy wages and really do work for immigration

A few years back you could do something like this in Thailand through a travel agency, your passports were actually taken out the country, stamped and returned without you having to accompany it. Then it all went tits up with lots of people chucked out of the country after some jail time.
In Vientiane, Laos I used to give some dodgy guys in the street my passport and $20 (US) and it would be returned with a new 30 day visa. Then one day it came back with the news that I had to leave the country and do it myself from then on.
I think any visa should be done by the rules, when I hear people complain about countries like Thailand or the Phillipines I think "try just turning up at an airport in Australia and asking for a visa, or taking dodgy shortcuts when you have to renew it and see what happens".

There is the same deal at Thailands Don muang airport, just before immigration is a visa office with signs plastered everywhere saying tourist visa application office. I might try it myself if i can get a flight there.

At Manila airport i have on several occasions fronted up to the immigration counter(i try to pick a woman officer they seem to be more helpful) and asked for my 59 day visa extension. The lady takes me to a small office just to the left hand side and i pay 2300 pesos, wait 10 mins and it`s done.

I was advised to "get the extensions upon arrival at the Manila airport, cause its cheaper then getting them later". And its certainly less hassle. I do not know if its cheaper, because I cannot compare and I was not sure about what fees were being talked about.......but that was the advice from a local travel agent.

Speaking of visas anyone know if its possible to get 60 day visa on arrival in PP Cambodia? I know you get 30 days on arrival but you have to pay more for the extension later.. No mate, You can only get 30 days. You can get a tourist visa for 30days @ $20. Im told it can be extended for a further 30days but you have to go to Immigration out near the airport, that can be a hassle. You can get an ordinary visa (Known before as a Business Visa) 30days @ $25. This can be extended for 1, 3, 6, or 12 months (6 or 12 months is Multiple entry) just by going to a travel agent, give them your money, passport and some pictures, they do the rest. I always used Lucky Lucky motor cycles on Monivong Blvd for this. They can be trusted with your passport. They charge a small commission, which is well worth it in my opinion. They will also organize your Cambodian Drivers License, road tax for a motor vehicle and visas to other country's. It must be the easiest visa system in the world. With the ordinary visa you can work, own a business, etc etc.

You can trust an Asian company that uses the words lucky and motocy in the same sentence?
