Yes @miow40 that's one appointment I'm planning on keeping! We had a member who used to keep us up to date on that; sadly he deleted his account. I'm having a look from time to time at the site; selfishly for my own needs I must confess but; I'm thinking of a thread dedicated to that topic alone, so everyone here will always be up to speed. Cheers bear

I have heard rumours that they are asking Americans , for proof that they have the money form what investments. There is always honest loan sharks that can help too, for the ones who just need some help.I remember when I first got here , i needed my money in a bank for 3 months which I didn't meet that requirement.I went to a visa lady and nshe arranged everything for a fee of 20.000 baht .That was great and after that I was ok for the rest of my stay.

After itsa put a smile on my dial first up I then found the following to wipe it off. It was getting US$1.10 not so long ago. Was down to 0.49 cents a decade ago though. But I guess, as usual, not to worry about things we have no control over. As I always have said. When I push the buttons on the ATM and nothing comes out then I will stress. www.abc.net.au/news/2019-01-07/interest-rate-dollar-outlook-2019/10646310

Here in the Philippines I am pleased to see that it seems AUD$1 = 37.25 pesos.
I originally budgeted some 6 years ago that we would be down to AUD$1 = 35 Php so I am glad I was wrong.

Took another hit with the exchange rate thailand. Dsp dropped two thousand baht last payment on Monday (monthly direct deposit) When will the bleeding stop? Seems south is the only direction

It isn't just the exchange rate either, super funds in Australia are showing negative returns for the period 1st July to Dec 31st 2018, so retirees are being hit with losses of the initial investment. Wow did not know that. I own a condo in Thailand fully declared with centerlink as it doesn't matter where you own property as long as it's where you live or its not generating income The only thing keeping me in Thailand is not paying rent I'm tempted to sell and up and take advantage of the exchange rate baht to aud. And the bursting real estate bubble in oz Put my gut is telling me no lol

Thanks Denis Dennis , that would be defined by how much I get for my condo here. With the exchange rate bump should be around 300k aud and they allow you to keep it in a bank for one year before adding interest rates to effect the dsp payment Since beach fishing was my favorite hobby I would go as far north as possible on either east or west coast without ending up in a one horse 🐴 town and buy a tinnie for river fishing, crabbing etc. Always had a freezer full of filets which cut weekly food bills down a lot It's not just about property. The cost of my meds are skyrocketing without PBS and my health isn't getting any better and health insurance here for GOOD coverage is to expensive. I here the mother land calling 😭😳

Thanks. I just received an update from my financial adviser on the state of my fund, he also included a report on what other funds are achieving and for the period mentioned there was a lot of red. The more upfront funds will report how it is as of December 31st, where others can juggle their results to show a plus. A good daily online newsletter “YourLifeChoices” mentioned this around Christmas that this was going to be the case because of global markets and the state of the Australian Stock Market. Of course things can turn around, just a wait and see. I cannot reprint an article that was included in my report but I will come back with the authors name and see if it can be googled.
