I should have added that when I was forced to travel to oz every 3 months i slept in many airports on the floor. Only Perth had good sofa's in a cafe that closed at night. Melbourne for noise and Saigon for tiled floor stand out in my memory. After ten hours on industrial carpet in Singapore I declared never again. And it gets voted as best airport in the world. There's sleeping chairs in Singapore, I spent a couple of breaks on them. They're big terminals though, a bit hard to find.

Then as far as airports go, Manila airport is the pits, I have been in better airports in other third world countries. Just saying.

Hong Kong Airport is good for sleeping at. There are hot showers there but only in the arrivals area. Also you can get a good rest on the Airport train that goes back and forth between the Airport and the main Island. Sleep in the back carriage as they have power points and free Wifi. Hong Kong also has over 40 free camping grounds where there are toilets and running water. You can pitch a tent at those camps indefinitely.
Macau on the other hand has a zero tolerance approach to homelessness. I never tried sleeping at the airport there but I did get moved on by the authorities when I was camping around the St. Pauls ruins.

Now onemore, Manila does bring back good memories. First time Philippines airlines included a hotel in the ticket. Arrive late arvo and transfer to hotel for my only ever night in Manila and transfer back to airport next morning after buffet breakfast. Vietnam airlines also had same in 3 star hotel twice. But Manila was Century Park hotel. 5 star. But the next time they cut it out and was back to airport floor again. Old Saigon airport was the worst overall as i recall. Very basic and haven't needed floor at new one as yet and hopefully never will.

Yes I agree mulloway Hong Kong is a good Airport to sleep at, on my first trip to The Philippines I had a 10-hour stopover in Hong Kong, I stayed at the airport hotel, just a very small room but it suited my needs at the time, just a bit of kip and a shower for the onward journey. While I was there I just happened to lose my passport and wallet, which was returned instantaneously. Overall it was a quite pleasant experience

Not from my experience in the Hong Kong terminal transit area as like others all the metal seats have arm rests making it impossible to lay on them which someone once told me was a deliberate thing they do to deter sleeping. Beer in Hong Kong airport was so expensive also that i was not even tempted to have one even though i was thirsty. K.L. airport is one that has soft padded 100% flat benches near the gates for a better option. Melbourne also has the metal armrest chairs.

Not sure I'd try the camping grounds but handy to know.

Singapore airport is supposed to be good for sleeping, but after a night there I was haggard. After finally locating a quiet place I lay down on the (hard) carpet and was woken an hour later by huge ride-on vacuum cleaners, which went on and on...

Sorry latindancer but LOL I think we have all done that at one time or another. I sympathise with you by the way. I think we should all complain to Airports to get them to put in a bit softer underfloor.

Our moaning aussie culture is showing through here. Most people would be envious of people going to airports so much. I always say. I am lucky to hate airports so much. But next flight to oz is first day flight in years. K.L. to Mel. 10.00 a.m. to 9.00 p.m. So airport not so bad this time. A few days in my fav country of Malaysia prior and no whingeing from me this time.
