Hi, i am on the DSP and occasionally travel to Thailand to visit some family i have there. I always inform Centerlink before i go, but this time i have forgotten. As im leaving tomorrow, which is a Sunday, i cant call them till i get OS. Does anybody know if this would be a problem,...im going for 12 weeks so would hate to lose my entitlement while im there .
Thanks.

Thanks for the quick reply,.....No i have had no issues with residency. I go once a year for the 13 weeks,...sometimes twice . Just ring before i go and tell em when im back. Its a pity theres no one you can contact after hours .

Thanks. Welcome to our forum carvets. Please call them first thing Monday morning & explain you just forgot and please make sure you get a receipt number for your call also log the date, time and the name of the person you speak with. My ex was on a carers pension & did not tell them she was going overseas when she returned they had stopped her payment from the day she left and was never given the money back. Please let us know how you get on because its only through our members experience that we can help other members.

Welcome carvets, maybe send a letter dated today? Apologize of course. Send a letter !!!! How does one do that ? I have heard about these letters before,....that is before electronic communication. That requires something called an envelope i believe,...oh its all too confusing. Can you actually email them ? Just a thought . Thanks for the welcome.

Hi Cavert They will accept an email but given they are very busy at the moment it would be wiser to give them a free call and say you tried to ring prior to you leaving but every time their phone answered you were cut off.... as it happens when you don't put any money in the phone box.

Letters and phone boxes,.....i have tried to Google these things with no luck. I do have a portable phone box , it fits into my hand , but i cant see where to put the money in . Just kidding of course, but it just goes to show you how far we have moved on. Soon future generations will have to google these terms and ask us,....what was it like to send a letter , and wait all that time for it to come ? Thanks for all your advice and i will now look to find an email address. Im sure i will be fine,.....i dont think they are that strict ??!!!!!! hmmmm ?

We live in unusual times carvets, Centrelink always seemed to have a certain degree of predictability that is no longer obvious in their make up. Great budgetry knives are being wielded in their department as governments continue to be elected on promises of reduced taxes and increased public service spending cuts. Like whipped dogs you can no longer tell if they will bite or not. Safe journey today.
