I got my UP! I can't believe it. I'm so happy. I thought with all the changes for the worse in welfare from Abbott I had little chance. So when I get my things in order, I can be with my family again. Thanks for the help guys. Really appreciate it.

Hi everyone, I haven't been here for a while as I thought I'd lost all my login details. Seems my Mac remembered for me.
Since last I was here, I have received my answer from CL re portability and it was 'no'. My WCA was just about the absolute minimum of points in each table, just enough to be still eligible for the DSP but definitely no, to portability.
Pretty sure that my optimistic and cheerful nature, was very detrimental at the WCA interview. I am really no good at the 'poor, poor pitiful me' thing.
On receipt of that 'no', I organised to get a review done. The answer to that came back, without at any time, any consultation with myself, as another 'no'.
So, I now have until the 1st week of February to do the SSAT thing.
My argument is that I was incorrectly assessed at the WCA interview.
Somehow I need to convince someone that I am at the limit, when it comes to coping with life without help.
I live alone, so have to do anything and everything necessary for normal day to day life. I have learnt over the last 14 years to deal with my disability, and have processes and habits that enable me to cope.
Any deviation from my normal routine has consequences, so to assume that I can take on extra tasks etc. such as commuting and any form of working, really isn't valid.
Anyway, there it is for now, I will be organising my appeal through SSAT over the next weeks and I'll have to see where that takes me.
Congratulations to any and all, that have been granted portability, since I was last here.
Regards, Hugh

I'm going to move your post to the closed UP forum Hugh and send you the password. I'll start a thread for you.
Keeps casual stickybeaks out.

Do we have to do a job assessment thing too after applying for UP ? I'm still too nervious to apply, it's been so less stressful not having to deal with centrelink for 8 years or so so never having to do things like job assesments or reviews etc. I don't want to stir the hornets nest so to speak. Also really want to be able to spend longer overseas... it's helped my conditions so much already since October than any doctor and specialist here has been able too// sadly im thinking that might work against me if I tell them that though since they might think I will get better enough to work again soon.

Best to bite the bullet and get it over with, the alternative is pretty grim.
No doubt looking forward to the JCA will take your condition back to the original.

Hmm can't do it. If I fail the JCA and it effects my payment i'll be really bad again. Rather just go with taking short holidays with suspended payments I think

Payments will resume when you return. But only for up to 13 weeks overstay, I think.

So you only lose your DSP and have to reapply for it if you stay more then 13 weeks, but you get payment suspended if you stay between 4-13 weeks but you don't lose your DSP.

Hi Guys ... I have stated this elsewhere but will say again here what I was told by a twenty years experienced International CL employer who was most helpful. I brought this subject up three times in our conversation and he was adamant that after four weeks you stopped receiving your DSP, then another thirteen weeks unpaid (total of seventeen weeks)before it is cancelled and you have to reapply. If you did multiple trips, you would just be paid for four weeks and nothing for the other trips.
He said although it was linked in with customs, always ring them on return to be on the safe side, and also to get everything in writing to protect yourself.
I would suggest ringing international and asking them to show you where it is stated or to send you a letter with it clearly outlined.
Cheers, Dusty
