I don't think I ever saw it in writing when it was 6 weeks + 13. Sometimes you just have to wing it, if they tell you on the phone it's 13 weeks then that's what you go with.

if you get a reference number with date and time of your call, any hassles with payments that is contrary to what you were told can be appealed using their own words.... just make sure you keep records...

Hey guys Im thinking of applying for unlimited portability, i rang the lady and shes sending the forms. if i dont get it this time am i aloud to try again in the future?, or do you only get one try? im worried that my docotors might think i can get better within 5 years. i had a bad experience with the first doctor i saw about my condition who said i could be cured in less than 2 years, but he was wrong, but because he didnt know me for long enough i think thats why he said that. Now my new doctors at the hospital have known me for i think about 2 years, so i guess im worried they might be hesitant to tick the 5 year box, but ive many of my problems that relate for about 14 years, and centrelink must have a record of the time they made me go to their centrelink psychologist, they had a special psychiatry building and i was seeing the head psychologist who sent the employer people the message that i could have a rest from job hunting. that all happened more than 5 years ago i think. anyway ill try, see how i go.

I think you can apply later if you miss out the first time Highlander.
You need to have a good talk to your doctor and see if he thinks that you will have 20 points in a single table.

You can apply again but I have an idea you need some new/additional information to do so.

its not the 20 points im worried about, the guy told me i got 20 points , its that doctors are always optomistic with mental illness, so to tick the box for 5 years or more means they are basically saying to me you will have this prolem for a long time, which can be bad news for you if you know you have to keep taking this medication for so long, but when i talked to my case manager once, i said, how long do i have to keep taking this medication, and she said that usually people like me have to take it for a long time, but that shes happy because im much better than i was before i arrived and i used to have drink so much alcohol. The other thing is that both my psychiatrist and psychologist were are the mental health hospital which is for when you are having an "episode", so after 1 and a half years of fortnightly appointments and then i missed a few, the psychologist told me to start going to a gp to get my medication, because she knows i hate talking to them and they are for people having episodes and im happy being by myself and im no harm to anyone and happier now i dont have to do share accommodation thanks to the DSP so i atleast have my own toilet and stuff, because before i had my own place i was going to the tolet in my room to avoid people because i didnt trust my housemates and thought they were monitoring me.. but i think maybe i dont have to be doing a program of support because they gave me 20 points, i think blacktulipvampie told me that. which doesnt make sense, shouldnt the worse your illness be the more you need a program of support, maybe the NDIS thing is going to do something, i dont know anything about NDIS yet. i know i can get a mental health plan from the gp, but as i said i hate talking about my problems, and my case manager said if i have problems i can go and see her anytime or go to the acute care team down the road, i just dont want to, im a guy i hate talking about that tuff, its embarassing. its better im by myself and dont drink alcohol in order to go to a doctors appointment.
So they gave me a heap of scripts and i havnt even needed to go to the gp yet because i havnt used all the scripts yet, i last saw the psychologist in february. i think the dotors at the hospital will fill the forms out for me, as i said im worried that they want to be optimistic and wont tick 5 years, but im also worried that because they sent me away and i havnt seen them for 3 o 4 months, centrelink will say i must be better, but its jut that i do everything to avoid talking about my problems, it took me 14 years to talk about some of the stuff i talked with them about and i was mighty drunk while i was doing it. anyway ill see what the doctors at the hospital say.

If you're not seeing your doctor all that often I would consider it means that your condition has stabilised, in that it will not improve with further treatment.

Hello Highlander, I know some doctors can over estimate their healing powers but most are realistic. Ask them the question - Can you cure me right now? If the doctor says no. Then ask him, what makes you think I can be cured in 5 years time. I am a big believer in positive thinking but I am also constantly reminded that these "Demons" are with us forever. We just have to learn to live with them. Do you think you will be cured in 5 years time, if not ask the doctor to tick the 5 year box ....

Can anyone tell me how, if its possible, to lodge a successful appeal to remove the 2 years residency issue to give me a chance to apply for Portability.
