another question: is it worth paying on visa agents for applying prospective visa or i will just do it my self? thank you for any help. Hi Jane, If you live in the same city as the visa office then it is probably easy to do it yourself. You seem like an intelligent girl with good English, and you will save a lot of money doing it this way. I did it myself in Thailand and it was not difficult. The people in the visa office will give you a list of all the paperwork you need to get and then give them.

For newly arrived migrants there is 400 hours of free English language training. Once that has finished it is possible to get more free hours through Centrelink.

Tim2013, if you look down at the bottom of that document you will see "Last reviewed January 2012".
Assurance of support is no longer needed; I am certain of this.... I brought my wife here earlier this year when I was on DSP. Means testing is also no longer used.
