I was talking to Centrelink this week and suggested they contact me by email regarding my Payment Review. He went a bit coy, and said "we're no allowed to do that", so once more I have to ring them at my expense. I had a bit of a google on it... emails as a legal document in Australia... with this result. forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/19541Ten years old anyway. I'm more inclined to think that Centrelink don't want US emailing THEM. Our electronics whiz, ruddthedudd seems to think they don't constitute a legal document, but with out doubting his opinion, I'd like a little more information. Why, for instance, has Welfare Rights decided to stop emailing people? (Well done Banjo, you have the magic touch when it comes to pissing people off).

Before leaving Australia on the 9th April 2013 I rang Internatonal concerning my monthly payments, and was told I would receive my first payment on the 19th April 2013, but I havent received any payment yet. I have sent emails asking about a payment date, even rang from the Philippines only to be cut off after awhile. Seems like outa site outa mind when you are overseas.... very stressfull...

Did you get a receipt number for your call to C/L when they told you your payment would be in on 19th April? I think the only way you will get any response is by calling C/L international and ask them what is going on. Please let us know how you get on.

I told centrelink I was going overseas via email with their request callback option. Don't really care if they callback or not, don't care if they don't accept notification by email. I notified them, thats the best they are going to get out of me. No way am I going to ring them and wait 40 minutes.

There is a major drawback with this approach, that is c/link dont care that your peeved about waiting. Dont be surprised if you get cut off because emailing is not water tight and the only way to be sure is by phone with a receipt. Trust me your going to get really annoyed if they forget your email. I just rang them via skype and got through under 10 mins to check my return date.

That`s exactly true Zorro, I have emailed c/l numerous times and got a reply about 1 out of 10. Yes by phone is really the best way to talk to them.

Some people have been told it's not necessary to check out or in, Centrelink claim to have all the info they need from immigration.

I once failed to notify Centrelink of my departure, My DSP was suspended the day I left, after a phone call to them though, they re-instated it for the 13 week portability period of the time.

I remember one phone call where the lady said it doesn't always show up on her screen and that's why we must call in. I don't know if that's true but still you wont get no sympathy from C/L if you trip yourself up

I do what is necessary by ph, and whatever else I need to do I deal with ACORDINGLY ,if you read my other posts ,recently ?,because they wanted more info,I went into the office laid a bundle of documents on them, close to a hundred ,and made them give me a signed receipt for them.these documents included their own ambiguous, double meaning in and out of date legislation.
