I was excluded from Centrelink payments for 1 year. I'm eligible in September 13. I went in to Centrelink to ask if I have to re-apply or does it come back automatically. They said I have to re-apply and I apply they will assess if I need a new report.
I'm a bit worried because it's so strict these days to get DSP.
I did get it before and passed a review. I think shouldn't I have more chance of getting DSP being injured even more.
I am completing the online claim form and it's asking for medical forms and bank statements. How far do the bank statements have to go.

From the info provided quantumranger I'd think if you went back to your last month of DSP payments before your exclusion, that should be sufficient. The thread title indicates your exclusion was because of a payout. They most likely want to see how well you are managing it, as well as to determine your rate of new payments because of it. If the compo was for anything to do with your original DSP claim, it would be highly unlikely, I think, that they'd knock you back this time around. Hope it all goes well for you, cheers bear

I would probably start with 3 months worth (13 weeks) as that's the time period Centrelink usually assess.
From my understanding of the exclusion periods it is a calculation from the compensation team and doesn't generally change.
I'll have a look and see what info I can find out.

I just want to know my chances of getting DSP again because I have to reapply. Too scared and worried. While you are still in the exclusion period I would be getting your file through Freedom of Information (FOI). It would then show you what information Centrelink has on your disabilities and how many points you had prior to the exclusion. I'll keep searching regarding reinstating after exclusion and see what I can find.

How long does it take for the process of DSP.
Should I just apply for Newstart while I wait.

Get your medical evidence together mate, that's diagnosis reports from CL aceppted speacalists and nofixedadress is right because a good GP can help navagate all that, we got a good doc here, dont know where you are, because that's what the big CL use to assess you medical evidence. . Should be easy if you got the impairments , the only issue i see people having is getting enough points from the JCA and that's where the game or cards starts. Think of it like a lock and key and your the key and the JCA is the lock and the tables is the lock and key system . Unfortunately it has to be this way even though we clearly have the disibilty we still have to get sufficient points via the JCA . I am open for correction on any of this

DSP can take some time and that you need to gather information for that application you may as well be getting something. Don't be daunted or put off by 'the system' as it can also help. Plus you have also the support of all of us on the Forum who will help you as best we can. We love it when forum members get their DSP entitlement. Be strong and all the best Denis

I read on another page that it takes 5 months to get a JCA booked after your application. And some JCA's are horrible but the one's I've had are nice.
I had DSP review 3 years ago and made it through okay. Because I got compensation and had my DSP cancelled because of the amount I got. It was cancelled for nearly a year and then I have to go through this process again.

There are ways to have a claim assessed quicker but it would depend on your circumstances...
When you apply for dsp, if you tick the box for Newstart make sure you are put on Newstart provisional (no obligations while your claim is assessed and during appeal if necessary).
However, if you don't elect to receive Newstart Provisional your claim is assessed quicker as you are not receiving any payment. It can be escalated under financial hardship and assessed within 2 weeks. But, and only you know your circumstances, you cannot claim Newstart or another 'payment' (carers, sole parent, Newstart) - it can also be less mentally stressful.
Whichever path you go down also remember that a federal mp can chase up your claim and generally I have found this gets things moving.

Oh thanks I will not use Newstart because I'm not capable of looking for work. If I don't get DSP I will just ask my family for help. I can't do the requirements of Newstart.
I will ask my MP for help if needed. I know that will be quicker by not doing Newstart thank you.

Newstart provisional shouldn't have any job search requirements but it doesn't always seem to be that way unfortunately.
I would definitely use the time on your exclusion to get reports and understand which tables you are claiming on. Request your file through FOI in case there is info in there that will help.
