Denis-NFA The Thais aren't bad either, drive past any roadside stall up country and you will see a mix of BMWs and elderly motorbikes parked out the front with the society people and rice field workers sitting side by side in front of bowls of noodles. I think it's a given that peasant food is good tasty value anywhere in the world.

And Indian, Chinese, Mexican, Hungarian, wherever. But your right, peasant food. PS Roast pumpkin is not bad but it may depend on the oil/fat used to roast it with.

just a tip on pumpkins. how many of us grew up with peeling and cutting out the seeds? Turns out that is a total waste of effort as those are the healthiest parts. Now been eating all of it for years and don't even notice them. just heard it again on the radio last week. Likewise the skin and apple core. Eat the lot. PS. My favourite veggie by far banjo. But then again, you know I have no taste as an instant coffee person. Totally agree nomadic but I'm a tad concerned about your 'instant coffee' drinking habits... Banjo sent me some local Thai coffee beans so you have no excuse...lol Speaking of coffee beans, Banjo I can now get Thai and Viet coffee beans let alone the varieties grown here.

Anywhere that looks like this is a guarantee of good food. what are you doing in Vietnam? The place across the road from bus station in Rai is about as good as it gets for 30 or 40 baht. pad gaprao.

I interpreted Banjo's picture as more about choosing a restaurant no matter what country or cuisine that was frequented by lots of people. You know its good if many people buy.

That's how I originally interpreted as well Denis-NFA nomadic threw down the gauntlet regarding location and by researching the form it showed it'd definitely be was a worthwhile wager. 😂 Cheers 🐻

OK, OK... I'll confess... I thought it was in Asia, I never read the fine print. As Denis said, lots of people mean the food is always fresh.
I once ate at a Vietnamese restaurant in France... I think it was in Nice.

My favourite dish here is mango float... slices of mango with a cream on top and covered with graham biscuit crumbs...

Denis it must be for those who are well off flying around to try new cuisines. Anthony Bourdain eat your heart out.. Every now and then I order a Sizzling Hungarian sausage with gravy and steamed veggies washed down with a San Miguel Pilzen, it's my favourite Ilongo meal, only 100 Pesos for the meal and about 50 Pesos for the Pilzen, Or A$4.18. Yeah Mango Graham is tastey it's on par with a bananna split. Cheers J
