Centrelink allows a loophole when one of a marriage/partnership is seriously ill and goes into a hospice, considering them legally separated for benefit purposes. Maybe something like that could apply here?

A friend and former member and I had a discussion today on the advantages of a local bank account vs a money transfer, we worked out the using RIA, which he swears is the best, to transfer my pension up to Thailand every month would, surprisingly, only mean a saving of 500B/$20 a month.

So 2.3 million callers hung up... a good percentage would have been unsure of their Age Pension entitlements anyway and said stuff it. Now there's a saving

I'll admit that I had something in mind a bit more tropical than where I ended up. It's only a couple of months of the year though and daytime max temps rarely drop much below 25.

I know Turkey isn't Europe but it's similar to some Eastern European countries and the long term/ residency visa system seems to be a lot easier. I liked the country myself and know people who holiday regularly on the "Turkish Riviera".

A friend married a girl he met overseas, when she came to Australia she got a job, worked hard and learned quickly and as she rose in the company his pension slowly got smaller and finally disappeared. She does give him an allowance though...

I got an email today supposedly from Norton Antivirus informing me that two years payments, a sum of $350, for their service was about to be deducted from my bank account and to ring them immediately (on a genuine Australian phone number) if there was some error involved. Came with a very convincing pdf billing file attached. It almost had me reaching for my phone and I know how the game is played.

A most enlightening TV show, you can see how determined they were to "protect the brand" even against respected and popular members of the community. We had to contend with a propaganda campaign as well, "jetset pensioners" for example.

I grew numerous varieties of chillies in another life, general rule of thumb is the larger the chilli the cooler and sweeter the flavour. My favorite of the mild ones are jalapenos. Best way is to buy a pack in the market and save the seeds if you like them. Really easy to grow.
