With an upcoming trip to South East Asia I have decided my time has come to apply for UP.
I rang CL international and they are sending the forms out to me. They did not say anything negative about DSP being cancelled on review or anything like that. I have already had a DSP review this year anyway. Presumably I will have another one with the UP forms.
I will keep the site informed as I go.

How do you prepare for portability ? What's this IOS you have to get and how.. Any hints on how to be ready.? How long dose it take for them to say yes or no,? If no you Just appeal there decision right.

Well, finally the paperwork arrived. Very thorough it is too. Even without my disabilities it would take a long time to fill out all of it.
How long after I submit can I expect the JCA interview?

I was in there in a couple of weeks but I believe there is a bit of a log jam now.
My ARO's review of the refusal to grant took nearly 6 months.

i have a question,when you apply for the U/P and go for your assessment(jca) does the assessor know why you are being assessed?? just a thought i had?

In all honesty the woman who assessed me seem competent and well qualified.
she told me at the end of the meeting that it was going to be extremely difficult for her to give me the UP under the rules she had to follow but I still qualified for the DSP.
I think that the problem many of us have is that we tend to shoot the messenger, Human Services staff often have little discretion at their level, they have no choice but to follow the book of rules they are given.
I think assessing mental illness is something else entirely, highly qualified professionals have been fooled and also failed to detect serious problems.
I'd hate to think what criteria Centrelink use to identify that, it's not a responsibility I'd like.
At the risk of becoming repetitive the assessors should have been given ONE line of approach.
Can this person reasonably be expected to get a job on a level playing field?
