Hi all. I found this site and can only thank my stars.
I'm 53 and have been on DSP for 4 years. I have just been contacted to be reviewed and have no trust in the methods the onion eater government has employed to pick on the vulnerable in order to pay for their tax plan for the rich.
I have a multiple severe cervical spine degeneration. From C2 to T1. I've previously had an anterior cervical fusion on my C5/6 and the others are now rated as severe "Cervical Foraminal Stenosis with Severe Bilateral Foraminal Stenosis", "resulting in compression of the nerve roots." Over the last 3 annual CT scans the condition has gone from mild to moderate and now severe. I tried to keep them happy by doing some casual work in 2015. Too much pain and I was making mistakes. I felt I was doing more harm which I did.
Now they see fit to drag me through the process because on my previous medical I also was treated for depression.
So I'll report the process as it goes with this review. But luckily you have all the information I need if the reviews goes as south as the new system is setup to go.
Cheers.

Hello, good luck with your review, from what l read the majority of people end up passing them and keep their DSP. Did they say why they are reviewing you? did they say its part of the 2016 budget measure ?

Good luck with the review. I went through one last year. As for reasons for it they never really disclose it but reviews are a formal process even if not part of a budget measure. YOu should be alright with yours but this is a good site for help.

Welcome, Brent. Hopefully this review is simply a formality. Other members have found it best to gather all their medical reports for the assessor to consider. This thread may be of interest to you: dspoverseas.proboards.com/thread/2902/reassessmentPlease keep us posted.

Welcome mate, there is a wealth of information and support to be had here. Make sure you get reports from specialists and not just a GP. Good luck and keep us posted.

Hi there. On the front of the form it was stamped sampling review. During the phone interview she said it was not targeted. But maybe because I did some casual work and now I'm doing fulltime study, in a flexible learning environment. Either way they wanted medical forms etc. I'm not sure if the study triggered this? But in flexible learning there's no real class times and I can study at home or drop in for help. I can sit till it hurts then I can get up and walk around a bit.
Oh well if they carry on that if you can study you can sit therefore you can work. Problem is when I tried to do casual work it really exacerbated the condition within a short period. If they carry on about sitting to study I'll explain that I also sit when I need to empty my bowels too!

Welcome Brent
With what your yearly CT's reports say, it sounds like you shouldn't have a problem.
If you can maybe get a letter from where you're studying to show what supports they are supplying and if there is any "required" hours of study (hopefully less than 15 or even better 8) would only bolster your case.
Let us know how it goes.

Brent, some years ago I did 0.75 load study, also external; I duly notified them, and not long after was reviewed. I felt then that it was because of study but was so overwhelmed by the process I didn't ask. I did tell the JCA that the study was online and I did it when I felt up to it.

This is the problem, an effort made to study or work a few hours a week seems to trigger a review in some cases. All taking most people off the DSP will mean is that some of their payment will be taken away and given to crooks like Careers Australia dspoverseas.proboards.com/thread/4542/shonkey

l think they said they only expect only around 10% of people that get reviewed that will actually lose their DSP so l guess for most of us everything will turn out OK

Not good for the 10%, a lot of whom will lose it because that cannot cope with the assessment. I know a few who will just not turn up.
They are the people we're here for.

The problem with these reviews is the stress that they create stress and no matter how well prepared you can't help feel like this is a witch hunt. But I got all my papers and a great doctors report. Although I did not keep my eggs in one basket I learnt from my first botched diagnosis in 2005( Dr did not know I could have an operation and identified the wrong cervical vertebrae, telling me to live with the pain.) to have another opinion. I went to the Dr who I thought was a good guy. He treated the paper work with contempt, did not want to fill it in and did not want C/L to contact him. Armed with my scan I went to the second doctor I saw intermittently. He took the time and made sure everything was in order. Needless to say I wont go back to that first one anymore

Think carefully before you answer anything, the less competent assessors have been known to slip in trick questions.

Think carefully before you answer anything, the less competent assessors have been known to slip in trick questions. I'm giving it a lot of thought and this site is certainly making me much wiser. But the fact is I'm not trying to fool anyone as the results from scans and reports prove it. But I know not to get too confident.
