I'm just writing to keep up the real time scenario of one person's experience(myself) of the whole review process. I also talked with ACCOSS, because they need to know from a person at the coal face perspective.
So my next step is; I have an appointment with Welfare Rights. They also did not like how the elderly JCA assessor compared my condition to his. I still haven't heard about my outcome yet but I'm making sure I'm ready.

But they were wrong and from that interviewer basically acknowledged that by granting me the, then, maximum points for 1 condition because my circumstances were and are completely different from them. Fast forward to 2013 when I had my interview for UP/IP and I was then interviewed by an independent JCA person whom supported my application. It is a long road but keep on keeping on. PS ACCOSS is just an 'umbrella' organization that represents organizations. It does not represent individuals!

Cheers Denis that gives me some encouragement. I'm not giving up until it's all done and dusted. But the whole process is so long from the time you get the first notice for review: To the time you go to the review, and I still have no answer, that's the killer here, the limbo.

I think that sums up a lot of what this forum is about, it's someone to talk to that understands the problems while you're hanging about waiting.

What a roller coaster this nightmare was. I finally got a positive reply and I keep my DSP. I'm glad to have had all the support here as this experience was terrible. I also hope my real time posts here help those who are going through this process of reviews in some way. As you can tell it was roller coaster of doubt after doubt coupled with periods of long information vacuums.
The upside is because of the process I all but gave up on the DSP so now it's a rush. I mentally lived for the past months adjusting to a new lower budget and what worried me most was my young son's education expenses which I can barely manage on DSP yet alone Newstart.
cheers for this great site

It's a sad state of affairs when one considers framing the reply so it can be put on display in the pool room. lol

Once again my anger is because you won. if you had of lost i would have been more contented. So well done as i'm happier to be angry than contented when c'link is involved although i'd rather be contented in general . but will anything be done to stop this madness? Every time we have a win it proves their heartless incompetence and never is anyone held accountable. Is this Australia or some third world republic. same same i guess. AAAAAHHHHH!

You no what gets me is the LNPs have pulled the pin on the only affordable access for those who want to better themselves and have little money to do it. That is the VET FEE help system. This leaves the private providers to rip off potential students with a less than complete training course. As nomadic says " the madness."

I may be wrong, and often am, but I think the FEE HELP scheme is still running. All the best Denis

Likewise, great to see you survived the review process.
Regards the "VET Fee help" scheme, it is changing to the "VET student loan" scheme and the numbers of courses that will be funded has reduced from 800 to 400. It is fair to say this has caused problems for people studying the courses that have lost funding, especially if they cannot complete the course by the end of 2017, when current funding will end.

I'm halfway through a computer engineering diploma and I just make it by the end of 2017. You know when I decided to study one of the main reasons was that I sized up the LNP and new they would cut this too so I got in while I could. It's sad what the LNP are doing to the struggling classes. They want to blame welfare for everything and want people to get off it but at every angle they are making it hard for anyone to get ahead if they are not soaking in money. I'm at TAFE and they think they would have to cut most of the facilities if they want to continue. I've previously studied for 2 years at uni and I think TAFE have got it right with much hands on practical stuff and job preparations and this is harder than the maths science degree I studied for.
I used to joke about engineers straight out of uni, as I've worked with many entry level engineers in the oilfield, I used to say metaphorically," they can work out the volume of a pickle jar but can't work out how to open it." At TAFE it's about learning to open the pickle jar before working out the volume.
