Jeez, Fred....that's very unfortunate. Go and see Centrelink and talk to an actual person. You can then find the details and boundaries of what has been done. And try to not let your mood spiral downwards.....this kind of thing feeds on itself.

A few of us have been cancelled at one time or another for being non-resident. First thing to do is appeal. Then apply for indefinite portability.

Society in general is now a dog eat dog society,I am alright jack stuff you, until the SHTF and the shoe is on the other foot
Welfare rights ,hmmm, have dealt with them and given scant regard to my position, misinformed and told had little or no show of ULP
Did my own homework and got portability under mutual agreement legislation, was told by welfare rights not possible
So who does one turn to
Time for Maas demonstrations
Sorry I cannot offer any more,
There must be some sort of appeal system in regards this particular case

Myself I went from being cutoff for residancy to getting UP within a few months, it can be done! being broke in Pattaya is not the answer Go to C/L monday end tell them about your emergency, you will be surprised to see they will help as much as possible when face to face

All got from Centrelink was- "it is not our problem" I have no idea which part of Thailand you resided in but 'most' people did get notice of the changes in legislation that came about over the last few years. I appreciate your feelings but I have to ask why is it 'not their problem'?

Because they consider that they have acted properly under the legislation and it is now his responsibility to solve any dilemma he may have put himself into. That is the way they think. They say guilty, he has to prove his innocence.
He needs to see what ever letter they have sent out and take it from there.

sorry to hear this fredb. hope your getting online letters as these are pretty important, maybe this is why you wernt informed if they sent a letter to an aussie address that got lost in the mail or something. I havent been in this situation (YET!), but would take peoples advice here and try welfare rights, but at least get into clink on tuesday and get it sorted. better have any residency ties in aus documented as well as this could be important...
and I definately would NOT want to be in asia with no money! Ive seen many foreigners in the Philippines with no moneyb and they are all walking a thin line with no money even for visas let alone food, accomodation. If i sydney go to thechurched or whoever helps with emergeny food and a bed until you can sort it out. even try calling lifeline if things get real bad.
but above all, appeal!

Have no money to stay here. All I have is a ticket. Will go back tomorrow. Can I appeal from overseas?
