To qualify for IP you only require 20 points on a single table, though you may have 30 if you're on NDIS. It will be in your file. When your ready to start the portability application process, in order to do so, you need to call CIS (Centrelink International Services) pH 1316 73 and request the forms for IP/UP.ย They're obliged to warn you of possible loss of DSP...... Given your stated position I don't think you'd be at any risk, so don't feel intimidated. Always ask for a receipt number at the end of calls. That is an assurance that your calls will be kept on your file. Cheers ๐ป can't thank you enough for all this information, I truly appreciate it. I'll request the file on Monday and take it from there. I'll keep you posted ๐ why do they try to frighten people like that? And is it only people who got DSP pre 2012 that aught to be concerned? Of which I am not. I imagine they want people to stay here so that we are paying them their extortion money, I mean, tax money.

I guess looking from both sides there is a chance - both pre and post 2012 - of being denied portability and of having DSP cancelled so they have to tell you. You are voluntarily asking for your DSP to be reassessed.
If someone puts in an application with minimal to no evidence that they have seen anyone (or provide any reasoning as to why ie from a nominee) in the last 5 or 10 years then I would expect they could have a hard time both with IP and DSP.

I see. Well, I'm gonna go for it once everything is in order. I'm doing my homework before hand, and don't think there's much of a case to deny me portability and certainly not my pension, they would be bombarded with letters from a clinical psychologist and head psychiatrist. So, once I've got my stuff together I'm going for the gusto

Do I simply word it to foi that I'm seeking my file? Or is there something more specific I should mention in the request? thankyou ๐ Hi Shaheem not sure whether you missed it or were just having a moment. Cheers ๐ป To get your file, follow the steps outlined in the basic form letter # 1 in the link below. It's at the bottom of the first post.

I may apply to be able to spend the same amount of time overseas as my husband (who is my carer).
While I understand carers payment us a different payment, it's never made sense to me that someone on dsp who has a carer loses their payment after 4 weeks overseas each year, yet their carer can have multiple 6 week trips overseas.

Carers are only paid for the one six week trip though aren't they tasjo ? If so, bear in mind a DSPer can also go on multiple unpaid trips up to thirteen weeks as well. Therefore provided you can self fund two weeks you could also stay the six. However having IP and being paid for all of it....... Yesss!! Cheers ๐ป

Yeah i'm in PI Shaheem, it's a good place to go. Beaches on over 7000 islands, cheap cost of living, good food, kind and friendly people. Have been here for a while now so either Cambodia or Thailand is next in due course.
Keep your ties to Australia though as others have said on the forum.
Cheers

As bear said, the inconsistencies are ludicrous... while I understand there are carers who care for people who are not on dsp the majority must be. Apparently not on the 6 weeks bear (last time I enquired - as long as you return to Australia in between... although that may have been FTB). One payment with supplements would make so much more sense...

Hello everyone, I sent my foi request today, planned to earlier but been a little busy. Can anyone tell me long long it takes to receive your file? Perhaps someone mentioned it already, not sure. I also printed off a copy of table 5 at the library just for convenience, I don't own a computer. I know I have more than 20 points, so assuming my file says what I need it to (I imagine it does), and I get supporting letters from my clinical psychologist and the psychiatrist, would I then just go ahead and request portability? Is there anything else important I should be aware of? I did read something about condition needing to be stabilised and other requirements, seems like a balancing act. Like, they need to be convinced I'm skrewed up enough to get UP, but not "too" skrewed up to get UP ๐
