Ah I see, so you receive zero rent assistance if you leave permanently? Hmm 🤔 and you lose all the little supplements? Sounds like I'd be down a couple hundred bucks or so. That kinda sucks. I guess that basically forces you to go somewhere with extremely cheap cost of living to have a decent life Definitely limits your options if you have no other source of passive income investments or quarterly dividends coming in. I’m fortunate position of receiving quarterly dividends and they are more than enough to cover rent for that period and some left over to save, or travel inside Thailand. Also have a read up on long term visa for the areas you are contemplating to see which one would best suit you. That can also be a deciding factor depending on age sounds like you've got it all sewn up out there. It's just the pension for me unfortunately, but honestly, that being the case, I could still live pretty good. As far as I'm concerned anyway. I don't want for much. I'm actually pleased that they will pay me at least a grand a fortnight. I feared they'd be a lot more tight fisted. Visa situation in PH seems a little more relaxed than Thailand. I'll do my homework though

Just don’t get caught up in some of the traps and you will be fine and feeling much more relaxed in Thailand or Philippines if you decide there.

That's good to know. Yeah, thanks for the heads up. in all honesty, I intend to live the square life out there. I certainly don't want any drama, I've had more than my share of that in Australia. I just want a little slice of peace that's all. Nice and simple

Well R.A. is to help people with the cost of their accommodation in Australia and the energy supplement likewise and I've yet to find out how I can have my cake and eat it too. yeah, but what is the logic behind that? You have a pension which your entitled to. And you can take it wherever you please, as your entitled to, but if where you please just so happens to be anywhere other than Australia, you ain't getting jack for rent assistance. You get the short arms and deep pockets routine. What is the reasoning? That's all I'm saying. Who doesn't want to have their cake and eat it too? That's the whole point of having cake in the first place R.A. is to help people with the cost of their accommodation in Australia and the energy supplement likewise and if you're overseas you aren't in Australia any more. Isn't that logical enough? You seem to be under the misapprehension that either the government is your friend or the world owes you a living. Neither one is true!! Cheers 🐻

Cheers 🐻 you seem to be under the misapprehension that I care about your personal opinion. I was Bourne here, I worked and payed taxs all my life, I now have a disability and disability pension, and simply wonder why they reduce it if I leave. I'm not inclined to lick the government's boots just because I have a pension, but each to their own
