Ok, so someone from foi department just called, they said that given my pension was granted in 2014, if I request my whole file it's going to be thousands of pages apparently. They suggested I be more specific and asked what it's for which I declined to disclose. What specificly should I request? Maybe it was mentioned, I'll go back and read incase it was, they call back in 45 minutes. Thanks

Carers are only paid for the one six week trip though aren't they tasjo ? If so, bear in mind a DSPer can also go on multiple unpaid trips up to thirteen weeks as well. Therefore provided you can self fund two weeks you could also stay the six. However having IP and being paid for all of it....... Yesss!! Cheers 🐻 Hey Mr bear, was hoping you could help me out real quick with specificly what I need from foi, that is if you haven't already, I'll have a quick read. Thanks

I went with their flow and asked for all information relating to the grant of DSP... it took a few back and forward emails to find out all that I wanted to know but once you have someone on tap you can email them direct. PS. I am nearly deaf so they were near bound to use emails.

The basic letter I used from you says all files relating to the application and determination of my current payment. I guess I'll just state the above once again when they call back. Not looking forward to digging through 1000 pages if what they say is correct

Shaheem Tell them you want everything regarding your determination/grant, how it was made and would relate to a portability application and your JCA report at the very least. Thousands of pages??? If that's really the case you should get portability. Cheers 🐻

I'll tell them I want all files relating to the application and determination of my current payment. They can go ahead and seperate the wheat from the chaff, because I sure as hell don't want to, 1000 pages! Forget that

I got my file today, 80 pages of incoherent dribble basically. Most of it is half more or less written in code. The only thing that seemed like it may have been what I need was a mention of at least 20 points on the impairment tables, but it seemed to be just stating requirements, and making no mention of how many points I personally have. 🙄 The only other thing was at least two JCA reports, one irrelevant because it was my first JCA, before getting rejected DSP, later successfully appealing that rejection. And a second JCA which is also super old, which makes no mention of my primary diagnosis of PTSD and says I'll be ready to work in no time basically, yet was not fit for work at the time. Ten years later I'm still in therapy and now on the NDIS, and the shrinks know work isn't in the near future, if at all. which is all in black and white as was required for my NDIS funding to be approved. Looks like I'll need a new JCA (which obviously will occur anyway) and to request specifically how many points I currently have on the tables, my current determined work capacity or lack thereof, And my listed conditions. And perhaps ask specifically for my most recent JCA in the event it was not included. Man, all this isn't as easy as I had hoped

I had to studiously read my file numerous times to glean the info I required, mostly found within the margins, but given that my file was pre 2012 therefore sans JCA I'd hazard a guess they've likely changed the file format so my explanation may be moot. Cheers 🐻

ShaheemFortunately for me I had an FOI human being answering my request and emails so when she asked if I could be more specific I told her that I wanted to know what my individual allocated points were for and the relevant JCA where determinations were made. I'm sure she breathed a sigh of relief and certainly supplied me with the right information I was basically after. Given that your on NDIS I, personally, would just apply for Indefinite Portability anyway and ask for copies of JCA and all documents related to your determination by them. It might also help if you just assume you will get IP and tell them you want to go overseas by say January next year as you feel it would benefit your situation. Tell them your thinking of communing with Thai Buddhist Temples or some such. And remember, once you've got IP you don't have to rush nor do anything. Just my thoughts.

Just my thoughts. thanks brother, I appreciate it. I'll do something along those lines. I also have an actual person from FOI corresponding with me, so I'll try being ultra specific with what I need and didn't seem to find. Just the bare essential information. And perhaps get the psychiatrist on board with providing me evidence for a new JCA, I'll give them a printed copy of the tables for reference, and familiarise them with the relevant information. He's a real solid guy, he'l do everything to ensure this all works out for me
